Re: The age old problem of SONY INPUT selection - an exercise for a Wannabe

yeah, we've talked about it before...typically we call it closed captions for TV and subtitles for DVDs...but in theory they're basically the same

Samsung LCD HDTV (LN52B750), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic BluRay Player (DMP-BD55), Onkyo Receiver (TX-SR806), XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, SlingCatcher....all with my Harmony 1100 w/ Wireless Extender
Samsung LCD HDTV (LN40B640), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic Blu-Ray Player (DMP-BD60), SlingCatcher, Monoprice HDMI Switch (HDX-501)....all with my Harmony 900 w/ 2 Blasters

Re: The age old problem of SONY INPUT selection - an exercise for a Wannabe

Hey all just thought id buzz in here i use a Sony tv and what i had to do to get it to work was use Method 3 and setup input Next as the one that brings the input selection screen up then use inputNext to cycle through all the inputs and then if you want you can just wait and it will go onto the input it has selected or you can use the select button to go onto it works a treat if you dont mind it taking a while to get between inputs but really if you are going to watch a dvd then you need to wait for a bit at the start for it to read the disk anyways so it isnt really a problem for me.

Thanks Milner but that's a workaround - albeit a good one.  There is surely somethings better than what we have to do.  SONY need discreet inputs.

I don't understand the reason for this thread. Sony TVs DO have discrete inputs and they're shown in the Harmony database. They are also included in Universal Remote Control's (URC) database (not the MX-500 but newer remotes).

Not ALL SONY Bravia's use those discreet commands.  I have worked with Logitech on trying them all, even adding other Bravia Models but they will not work on MY model Bravia.

Understand?
