Re: harmony 520 menu screen

The LCD display (like an LCD watch) consumes very little power and should not need to be turned off.

On the 500 series the screen does always show text options; they cannot be turned off.

Other models do time out their screens and have motion sensors to revive them.

Hi Shadow111d,

Actually, the 520's screen does turn off after a few hours of non-use and goes into a sleep mode to save power. It uses a motion sensor to detect movement and actually wakes up when you come near it. The motion sensor is extremely sensitive and sometimes walking in the same room can trigger it. Most likely you will notice the remote start to glow from across the room than finding the screen is off.

This is true for all 500 series remotes (520, 522, 525, 550, 555, 360) except the 510 and 515 which have been updated to include a tilt sensor.

Thanks,

Sorry Eric.

I still have my 525 and it doesn't behave that way.

The names of the Activities are always on the screen, in black on white after the blue light turns off - as the OP experiences if I've understood him correctly.

To return the blue light it is necessary to click an Activity selection button or the "glow" button.

Re: harmony 520 menu screen

hi thank you everyone for helping me out, now i understand a little more about the remote, i have noticed that if i leave it overnight and i go near the coffee table to pick it up in the mourning the blue glows, just for a second, i thought it was some kinda glitch at first but after reading all your posts i realized that it is doing just what you say and "hibernating" and is just very sensitive to come back on, so thank you very much!

Re: harmony 520 menu screen

Hi Hhatkin,

The way it behaves is that you shouldn't see it with the screen off as it only turns off after a few hours and turns on at the slightest vibration in the room. It's not going to turn off the LCD while still in your hand.

It's a quirky feature, but it's there.  :smileyhappy:

Re: harmony 520 menu screen

Thanks Eric - I've never seen my 525 without at least black text on a grey background - maybe the room is vibrating all the time!

In contrast the One is usually completely blank.
