sony vision touch (s-link) remote capability

I own a sony str-da90esg reciever and would like a universal remote to control it. Just checking forums at remote center. I am under the understanding that there is no remote made besides the one that comes with it that will work, but all of the forums are old. Can anyone tell me if one of the harmony remotes will work, even if it only controls the volume and power it is better than what I have.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

If the original remote sends infrared commands, then yes the Harmony will be able to control it. The device is most likely on their database, but if it sends infrared the Harmony can learn from that remote.

Sony STR-DAxxxG
The current range of Harmony Remotes, and virtually all universal remotes cannot control some older Sony devices. If the device uses a "Vision Touch" remote or if the model number ends with "G", or if it came with the "Air-Egg" remote, chances are that the customer has one of Sony’s infamous VisionTouch (aka CAV) controlled systems and we cannot control it.

Affected models include: STR-DA90ESG
STR-DE805G
STR-DE815G
STR-DE905G STR-DE1015G
STR-D760Z
STR-G1ES
STR-GA9ESG
TA-VE810G

Re: sony vision touch (s-link) remote capability

I wish Logitech stops showing incorrect compatibility. In the portal, where one enters the model number to see if it's supported, the result shows as Compatible.

I bought the remote specifically because the compatibilty said YES.

I have STR-D760Z.

Re: sony vision touch (s-link) remote capability

The Sony STR series AV receivers have 2 Comand modes AV1 whice most univiersl remote emulate and AV2.  Sony receivers are set by default to AV2, so you either have to change the command mode to AV1, or in the Harmony software, select the device tab, select your AVR, select settings, and select Confirm IR, this will then match your remote to your AVR command set.

Well, I tried making the remote learn the commands and even tried Raw and Analyze. Nothing works. :smileysad:

Did you do the Confirm IR as I instructed, it sounds like you did the Learn IR.

Re: sony vision touch (s-link) remote capability

If you KNOW the Harmony remotes can not operate this family of Receivers, then why

does your website insist it does? Can you please correct this??

Sir/Ma'am:

I investigated your Remotes through your website several times before purchasing a Harmony 600. My Sony A/V Receiver is notoriously impossible to find a non-OEM remote for, but your website assured me that the Harmony remotes supported it and its' cousins in the 'Vision Touch' series - specifically the STR-D760Z, STR-DE815G, & the STR-DE1015G. The Sony RM-H501 remote operates all these flawlessly, however, the Harmony 600 is simply ignored by the receiver. Since you make a point of stating it is supported, please advise how? If they are not supported, I suggest you update your website immediately.
