Harmony Remotes

HI all.

i have searched and one so much with this remote but I can't work out whats going on.

the model of my Digital recorder is topfield 7100HD. it is a dual channel recorder. The model that the harmony software recognizes is a 7000 from topfield. I don't know how different these 2 are.

When i try to have the remote learn the topfield remote commands, i can't get it to learn anything. I have looked at this page

for info when learning issues are not working, but it isn't doing anything for me. I have tried everything.

the remote controlls obviously all of the options for recording and playing back on the digital recorder, but the model doesn't seem to be recognized, and I can't put anything into the harmony remote.

You can try to add this device as PVR>Topfield>TF-7100HDPVRT. This one is in the database. You may check if the commands in the database with this model number are controlling your device. If not, then you may learn those commands from the original remote.

where is the PVR option i looked in every catagory but couldnt' find it

You have to select Video Recorder first, then PVR

thank you, i did that and it found the remote. the problems are as follows

1) there is a  pause sign on the dvr

2) i have tried everything to learn the topfield remote, as per search functions here that point you to a remote control website for learning ir funcitons, nothing works. not even on other remotes, the harmony remote is brand new

3) when i press watch dvd the amplifier volume is set to 7, which is super super loud.

there are not many details on how to set things up here and after spending so much money i am a little annoyed.

i thought basically that if i wanted to do a remote function that the harmony supported, i would be able to click on a device and see the button i wanted to push and push it, that isn't the case, its like numbers and i have to guess to see what the action is going to perform.

so how do i get this thing to work as it is supposed to?

The pause sign just means that the device is a recorder, it is the device icon for all devices that can record
