Re: Harmony Link will not stay connected

Finally resolved my Link remote issues by setting up a second wifi network on a second router with WEP security. Found out the hard and frustrating way that the Link will not connect to the network with an ASCII WEP key, only with a HEX one.  If you use an ASCII WEP key on your wifi network, the Link will just not be able to connect even if you supply the correct SSID and password.  Logitech, you could've saved me one entire night's worth of frustration if you'd only documented that!!!

So, the gist of the story is, if your Link won't stay connected to the app because your wifi network is set on WPA or WPA2 security and the Link gets disconnected everytime the security key is renewed, switch your wifi network security to WEP (or no security if you don't care about strangers using your bandwidth or connecting to your wifi network) but *make sure* you use Open WEP, not Shared, and *make doubly sure* you use a HEX key instead of an ASCII key for your WEP key.

Logitech, PLEASE change your documentation to include what is NOT supported by the Link.  When you say the Link supports WEP security, people rightly assume that the Link supports ALL WEP security modes and WEP key types.  And I would venture as far as to say the Link does NOT support WPA/WPA2 security (at least not consistently or with any sort of robustness).

I would actually like to try this as a solution to my constant loss of connection issues, but I'm not willing to give up my WiFi security. I have a second wireless router that I could set up, but was wondering if there is a way to set it up with low, or no security yet prevent others from using my bandwith. Is there a way to set up the other router so it can use only the IP adress needed for the Link? That way in event that someone decides to try to use it they will be blocked from everything other than that single IP..

Is this doable?

Thanks for the solution..

Re: Harmony Link will not stay connected

Very grateful for the guidance regarding WAP security.  I'm using the Engenius EAP300 (http://www.engeniustech.com/business-networking/indoor-access-points-client-bridges/16139-eap300) which is available for about $100.  In access point mode under Wireless > Basic in the configuration web client there is the option to create additional ESSIDs.  Under the Wireless > Security tab, deselecting SSID and STA in the "Separate" field will allow a separate WPA ESSID to communicate with the WEP ESSID required for the Logitech Link.  The process took under two minutes;  it's really not complex.  Admitedly, it's regrettable to have to spend $100 to enable a $70 device but, at a minimum it does work.  Have to say that I prefer the Link to the older Harmony units.

Re: Harmony Link will not stay connected

I had the same linking problem.  My remote shows that the email address that set it up is qaolivelab@qa.com.

I have reset this thng sever times and cannot get it to work.  I changed the name of tghe room and that got picked up.  But it still has the wrong set up email address!!!!!  It therefore does not like my password.

anyone have an idea?
