Link not worthy of the Harmony name

No sequences, no button customization AT ALL, no configuration really, AT ALL.  Was this rushed out or are they thinking iOS = dumbed down? Not sure what the thought process behind this product was, but it seems "power users" are the ones who would consider such a device, yet the feature set is geared towards the masses. Wow.

Unless someone tells me that an update bringing the Link the features of the rest of the Harmony line, Amazon is getting a return, and RedEye a new customer.

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

I have to 2nd this post.

I have an LG Smart TV with MediaLink.  I'd love to be able to create my own customize scrren with the codes to get into the MediaLink , arrow down, arrown right, select Media link and boom it's all down with one tap.

While this is a good start, far from where I want it to be.

And to top it off to get an email from support saying they are too busy to respond is another slap in the face for this product.

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

You would think this device would be at the same level as the rest of the remotes they sell, power on delay is a minimum requirement for an advanced remote. I don't think they had the users in mind when the pushed this device out! Unless some serious improvements roll out it's days are numbered in my house

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

Hmm well good to know i'm not alone, or "missing something".

It's too bad, I loved my 1100 and had an iPod Touch lying around, thought this would be a great solution.  Far from it.

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

a repost....

I bought my Link 2 days ago, even after reading all the negative feedback about it in many online reviews.

I have to say, as a "universal remote" this thing is LACKING in every department.

My goal, was to find the best iPad universal remote app possible to control my high end audio system. After playing with the Link app for a while, I have come to realize this app is more of a "TV GUIDE" than a HT remote. The TV GUIDE seems like it was given 99% of the R&D funding, and the REMOTE CONTROL portion was given about 1% time and funding.

I also purchased a Harmony 1000 a while ago, and returned it 3 days later. I am trying my best to not do the same with this unit. But so far, I do not understand what the h*ll Logitech is thinking. This unit AS IS had SOOOO much more potential than what they have put into it so far.

The "remote control" menu is the most pathetic thing I have seen on an iPad, and what's with that tiny little scroll down slider for every command?? Would it really have been that hard to have full button remote screens for each unit??

I don't have, or watch any kind of Pay Television, so the entire TV GUIDE section is useless to me. It takes up the ENTIRE touchscreen and is not able to be hidden.

I am seriously thinking about buying a Griffin Beacon, even though it has it's own issues as well...  at least it looks like Griffin put some real time and $$ into the Universal Remote portion of their device.

VERY DISAPPOINTED AGAIN

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

As of February 10th 2012 the link is still absolute garbage.  It still requires an "always on" connection and it still doesn't support modern Android devices.  The ipad app still doesn't have future listings, logitech still doesnt care, and there are still moderators sneaking around here in damage control full out deleting unsatisfied customers posts.  I hope anyone considering purchasing a Link in the near future holds off and goes with a supperior product.  I'll try to update on March 10th and let you know if it's still a worthless piece of trash with a terrible support staff.

Re: Link not worthy of the Harmony name

Don't worry. Logitech is working hard to make sure none of their products are worthy of the Harmony name. All their recent models, including the Link, 600, 650, 700, 900, 1100 and OnePlus have been crippled to the point they're essentially unusable. It's really sad to watch this once great product line be destroyed due simply to the ignorance, greed and incompetence of logitech management. If they would simply stop removing features and listen to their customers, they'd have some great products. It's not rocket science.
