Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

Hi all,

Since JellyBean just got announce as the next version of Android, I find it funny that Logitech/Harmony can't push out an update of their software so we can use Harmony Link on our tablets that are running 4.03, and in the next few months, JellyBean.

So my request is to start getting some updated software out their to the customer base. If not, then I guess I will slowly move away from Logitech/Harmony and start purchasing other brands that can provide timely updates and upgrades.

And why a company would want to push people in the direction of 'sideloading' their software is beyond me.  That's is only going to create a bigger problem of support.

If Logitech/Harmony can't do these updates/upgrades themselvers, then outsourse the work to a developer.  Better yet, how about making an open API so developers can create their own sotware that interfaces with this device.  Then you don' thave to the work, you don't have to support the users (because they would be getting that support from the developers that create the apps with your API's).  I think this is a smart suggestion to help get products (apps) out there in a timely manner.

Thank you!

Rob

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

yeah I recommend the Harmonly One Remote but I cant recomend the Harmony Link, it has less features then the Harmony one and yet it has the ability to have MORE capability but see I think that is the problem, the One is for the most part their flag ship universal remote that cost twice as much as the Link so I think they hold back progress on the link for that reason as more people have smart phones so why would they go buy a $200 remote when they can buy a $100 hockey puck. So I think this is why we dont see any effort to make this product better.

Anyhow guys if you have a tablet running Honeycomb not sure if it works with ICS but you can download the app and try it out called Dijit, this app has more features then the Link BUT less of a database of support devices so thats the trade off, the app connects to the Griffin Beacon.

Another option is Peel, it has a gorgeous interface and guide but again not as big of a device library as Logitechs. Peel works with some tablets with build in IR Blasters and offers a stand a lone wifi device to link to, works the best on Samsung Galaxy Tabs with built in IR Blasters.

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

Tonight, the power in my neighborhood flashed on and off several times in 5-10 minute timeframe.  This also knocked my internet out.  In the meantime, since I had been watching AppleTV, my entertainment system came back 1/2 on and 1/2 off.  I could not log back into my LINK, I assume because my internet was down?

Therefore an enhancement needs to be made for this situation.  In the envent of an internet outage, the LINK needs ot have a stored "cookie" or something to fo fail over authentication and operation.

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

MY suggestion is Logitech take ANY SUGGESTION - EVEN ONE from this thread over the past year it's been ignored and actually implement it.  I doubt it will be taken seriously.

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

just to increase the number of us that REALLY NEED the personalized command sequences, remember password for iphone/android.

Being kind of creative: to create personalized actvities where i can choose which would be the main controller and to switch between controllers on that activity.

The buttons personalization does not allow to change the arrows screen configuration, in  my case i have a device that does not use the "ok" in thet ascreen as the actual "ok", i need to change that "ok" button to send another command.

Do you have any date for the command sequences?

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

I would love to see a desktop app for windows/macs created. ( I know that has been mentioned a few times already)

I would also suggest to allow the app to use the hand helds side volume buttons for audio volume or to map them to do whatever we want.

[ Edited ]

It looks like they have given up already on this product. It's been over a year since this thread was started and no other developments after February this year. Come on Logitech! Make this a proper product!

Does anyone know if it's possible to program against the Link, if they have some API developers can use?

Re: Official Suggestion Thread and Some Quick Fixes

I love the link, but.... I wish that when inputting info for a search let's say on youtube or netflix through apple tv that I might have access to a keyboard.  A real one like the one that is already on the iphone. Through the iphone app gui, there is no keyboard just an ability to enter a letter at a time using the mouse.  I am looking for an answer if one already exists.  Otherwise kuos to the people on this board and to towboy123 for hosting this issue.

Thx
