Possible Damage to TV???

I have used the Harmony Link on my old system and it worked very well.  I recenly moved and purchased another TV.  Sharp LCD-60E77A.  I hooked up the Dish Network HD 211t.  I was using the device remotes for several days and all was working well.  I then re-programmed the Link for the new equipment and the first time I tried it the TV blew with a loud pop.  (I think the TV power supply).  Is there a possibility that the Dish HD and TV coming on at the same time caused a surge to the system.  Really just want to know if this is a possiblity, or if this has happened before.

The important thing is that I do not want to repair the TV and then the same thing happen again when I try to use the Link Remote.

Re: Possible Damage to TV???

I think that that is just a coincidence A couple of years ago, I bought a new Panasonic TV, and after I brought it home, it ran for about a half an hour and the same thing a load pop and the TV was dead.  Best Buy replaced it with a new TV and no problem since

Coincidence.....

If there was any correalation to the electrical, it would be that you have poor/dirty power coming into your house.  Use a good power conditioner between the wall outlet and your equipment.  Just saving your equipment from one power surge or brownout will more than pay for itself.

I used to use a good UPS/conditioner for my equipment (it was great watching TV/movies on the big screen when the power was out in the neighborhood) until it sacrificed itself from something that came through the power lines.  Now I use a multi-stage power conditioner (has voltage meter displays, etc.) to protect my equipment and it is interesting to see the fluuctuations in the power coming into the home.

I think your basic assumption is wrong since the link power up devices (and send commands) in a sequence and not all at once.

Re: Possible Damage to TV???

This is what I was thinking, That the Link was not related.  Was just concerned that if I get it repaired and the same thing happens again becuase of the Link it would be bad.  Just limiting the variables. :-)

Will also try to find a good surge supressor.

For the link timing, I understand it happens in a sequence but this seemed all at once and Ka-pow!

Thanks all for the input.
