Re: G930 Surround sound issue

I have more or less the same issue

My System: ASUS Maximus IV Exterme, Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 x64

I freshly installed Windows a few days ago and downloaded the Latest version of the Logitech Software - 8.01.120

My surround sound worked fine for about an hour and at some point I realized it stopped working - I verified when last Surround sound content was detected in the Logitech Software and slid the Surround sound button up and down - nothing happened. I restarted - same issue.

Reinstallation of the drivers and software makes no difference.

Swapping to a different USB HUB seemed to have resolved my problem? Does USB 3 perhaps make any difference?

(All my drivers on my system are up-to-date - I just verified before posting)

Re: G930 Surround sound issue

I am bumping this thread because I am experiencing the same issue.

It must have been a recent update to Logitechs drivers or the Gaming Software manager.

It is making me rage because everytime this happens I have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers! Not to mention it requires a reboot.

G930's Surround Sound is not detected, when I unplug the USB dongle and plug it back in, I get an error that says that there was an error with the g930s.

Whats annoying is say for instance, Battlefield 3 or Starcraft 2; instead of piping stereo, for some reason I hear the majority of the sound on the right ear, some sounds in the left....

Logitech please help!

Re: G930 Surround sound issue

A possible yet simple solution that works for me (on 64bit) and maybe for you too in order to get surround sound running with Logitech Gaming Software 8.01.120 (from 08/19/2011):

- unplug dongle from USB port when starting the computer (power on)

- wait till Windows and the software is loaded

- plug in dongle and the software recognized the headset including activated surround sound

You always have to to do this whenever you shutdown your computer or put it to sleep or hibernation.

Re: G930 Surround sound issue

Thank you so much N-Dee.

I thought the update would have fixed the 7.1 after reboot problem but it didnt, but your simple solution does.

Kind of a pain if you forget to unplug the dongle though because you have to reboot your pc again just to get 7.1 working again.

N-Dee, this works for me as well. Hopefully a working patch with a permanent fix will be coming out shortly. Thanks a lot for the tip!

Re: G930 Surround sound issue

You can also unplug the dongle, restart the Logitech Gaming software, and once it comes back up plug the dongle back in again.  Sometimes it might take a try or two but this has worked for me without having to reboot every time.

This will also fix your g buttons if they've stopped working.

In any case, this is pretty ridiculous.  The new Gaming software ruined sound on the G35 headphones and is buggy as hell for the G930 headphones.  Really bad form Logitech.

Re: G930 Surround sound issue

I've noticed that when it loses surround sound it also looses the subwoofer and the sound is awful.  Also I get weird issues like the mic being on even though the mic arm is up (supposed to mute when the mic arm is up).  Lowering and reraising it fixes that.

I think all these issues, and the G35 sound quality issue, all stem from this terrible Logitech Gaming software.  It's like it causes the proper drivers to be unloaded somehow and it defaults to crappy Windows defaults or something (update: driver is listed the same but without Logitech Gaming software running the channels are wrong and there's no sub).  I may try the 32 bit version (update: 32 bit installer won't install on 64bit OS) or just the old software, I'm sick and tired of having to mess around with this every single time I bring my computer up for some gaming.  I've got it to where I don't have to reboot, thankfully, but I still have to unplug the dongle, relaunch the software, plug in the dongle, lower and raise the mic boom; sometimes many times before the **bleep** thing works like it should.

I've registered to be told when the Razer Tiamat comes out, I may just ditch both Logitech headsets (I use my older G35 at work) and just switch.

I found a better workaround.  Just slide the surround sound switch on the headset off and on again.  It might take a try or two but it's worked every time for me without having to reboot/relaunch/whatever.  I use the Gaming software to verify that it's working, don't even have to close it or anything.  Just toggle the switch, check it, repeat till it works.

edit: VVV Yep, first page of thread.  Oh well.

editedit: Spoke too soon.  Had to unplug the dongle and relaunch the software to get surround sound detected in the first place, THEN toggle the switch to actually get it working.
