Re: G930 charge problem.

I have the same problem. I plug them in and only get a solid orange light. I emailed support and they want me to return this defective headset before they send me a new one. Pretty annoyed considering I will be out a headset for probably 2+ weeks plus by the them they get my old one, process it, and ship the new one.

Re: G930 charge problem.

I've got the same problem, but having the headset lie flat on the desk seems to have helped, temporarily.

I think the root cause is either the microUSB connector or something inside the headset becoming loose.

I am going through the RMA process myself, but one of the reasons to get such an expensive piece was the hope of quality which I simply didn;t get and like others have said I will be w/o any headset for a while and then w/ potentially another one bound with same problems :smileysad:

Re: G930 charge problem.

FYI...My headset worked fine for 2-3 months and then it stopped charging. I noticed that when i plugged it in it wouldn’t charge any longer. I tried multiple cables with the same result.

After messing with it for a bit, I finally got it to charge by pulling the cable towards the ear piece. If I held it in that position it would charge. I later started taping it in that position over night to get it to charge.

A couple weeks ago I opened and RMA and then sent me a new headset. (Support was great)

I received my new headset and guess what, it s the same exact issue; it wont charge unless I hold down the cable at the earpiece. I have talked with support again and I am going to RMA this unit as well.

There is obviously an issue with this units USB connection in the headset. Hopefully they will do a minor re-design to fix the issue.

[ Edited ]

I had the charging issue, and I just received my RMA replacement unit.  I am noticing the buzzing/humming (sounds like feedback) in the left ear only when charging the unit.  I didn't notice this with my last unit though, before it died.

I really have no electrical engineering training, but in my experience it seems maybe the micro-usb port on the left ear-piece isn't grounded properly.

Update: The buzzing suddenly stopped, when I went to the software it showed "Fully Charged".  There's definitely an issue there.

Re: G930 charge problem.

Hi Rideekulous,

Is the charging cable plugged directly into your computer, not through a hub or any type of passthrough device? As well I would suggest testing it on a second computer to see if it experiences the same problem.

i also got my brother to open and see if there was any damage to it (there was not any damage) but he said that it may be overcharged, so it wont charge anymore.

i may need another Battery.

Re: G930 charge problem.

This might be a software issue.

I've had a lot of issues lately and I was suspected my computer or lacking power to the USB somehow.

Among the issues are that when I connect or disconnect my headset from the charger, the charging status or remaining battery status takes a very long time to update, where it used to happen within seconds.

Another issue is that I can look at the graphics within the settings for the headset showing the surround sound setting and moving the button on the headset to turning on and off the surround sound shows not change in the configuration software. The image stays the same.

Also the charging problems everyone has mentioned here has happened to me. My headset has actually started screeching as it's seconds away from losing power, but the software seems to think that there's plenty of hours of battery power left. Then the headset dies and I need to charge it for a few minutes to even be able to turn into on for more than a few seconds, even while the headset is plugged in.

All of these issues started after I updated my software, although they're not consistently there all the time, they are however present most of the time.

Something that fixed the issue, at least temporarily, was going into the software settings and swithing on fancy graphics.

"Enable enhanced graphics". The software then asked me if I wanted to restart the software to enable the settings. I let it restart, I heard my headset go silent and reconnect to the wireless transmitter. When the software came back, my surround sound button worked again. I checked using the test software and every single speaker was heard, not just stereo. The correct charging status does display instantly as I plug in and unplug my headset as well.

I'll try to update this post after a few reboots, but it does feel like my problem could come back at any time, or at least at reboot. I would love for there to be a more permanent fix than this, something that makes this not happen at all.

Re: G930 charge problem.

I have had a few G930's replaced under warranty, and so I decided to look into why I keep having issues that all of you seem to have also.

This is the solution to all your Charging problems and Battery Meter Issues, is pretty simple enough to fix if you are at all tech Savvy!! You will have to take apart the Headphones on the Mic side, it may void you warranty, but it will 100% fix the problem!!

1. Unscrew the soft ear pad with Phillips screw driver

2. With a Torx 6 "T6" take the housing screws off from the speaker panel

3. Open speaker up, be careful as there are 2 wires attached, as per photo

4. Put flux on the USB connector and Re-Solder the 5 connecters from the mini USB.

5. Test unit works and the USB is charging again, test Mic, and speakers, all good then re-assemble in reverse order!!

N.B. I had all the symptoms in these posts and tried using different connecters ETC to fix, and it always was temporary, this is the permanent fix!

P.S. leave yourself plenty of slack when charging your Headset when playing games, as if you rip the cord this time it will probably do internal damage instead of breaking the poor solder joints from the USB, as once you repair the headset, there will be a much stronger join to the PCB board, i guess everything has a reason why it is, and there is a down side to every action you take to repair things, but all in all I still love my G930, and would not hesitate to buy another set or recommend them to my friends! Thanks Logitech for a great product, and I have not had any trouble since I have repaired them!!

Re: G930 charge problem.

[ Edited ]

Thanks hargaR1! This seems to be the solution to the problem we all've been waiting for.

I had to take off a lot of screws to get to the five connectors. but as i tested them it became obvious they had a loose contact.

since i'm in total lack of wielding or even soldering tools i helped myself with a simple screwdriver. with a little force i managed to press the contacts back on the circuit board and guess what - the g930 began charging again without further ado!

This is definitely the weakspot of the G930, it's sad that it's an assembling error that is kind of hard to find and even repair for the standard user (especially without tools like torx screwdrivers).

Despite that the G930 is by far the best headset of all i've ever had, and i had them all ;-) (over 15 in the last 5 years).

A week ago i even replaced the battery with a new one, uninstalled the software, resetted the radio connection of both the station and the headset with a paperclip, tried different usb docks, read through a lot of forums and youtube.

But the only thing that really made my beloved G930 charge again, was hargaR1's solution.

A big big thanks to you.

best regards,

Dnv
