just just got my new g930 as a replacement for my broken g35 and i can if i brush my finger against the mic i can hear it even if it is muted... so i get this horrible echo when using it. they were fine yesterday.....

EDIT: i changed the sidetone vaule to 0 and i stop getting the echo.

and can someone tell me what sildetone does

Check preview isn't ticked in the software next to the voice morphing.

That is what sidetone does, it is meant to make it sound like you are not wearing headphones (to yourself) when speaking.

I have this same issue. The microphone is in the up position, which should be muted. Also, I tried pressing the Mute button, turning down Sidetone to 0, and disabling voice preview. I also checked in the mic settings in Windows and muted it there, and made sure "Listen to this device" is unchecked.

However, the mic is still live all the time. I imagine that this significantly decreases battery life.

I have the new software installed, 8.20.74. I'm not sure if this was happening with the original software.

I've corrected the problem. I uninstalled the 8.20 driver and re-installed the previous G930 driver from ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/headsets/

Now it correctly mutes the mic when in the up position. However, sidetone still needs to be at 0 for a full mute.

Also, the sound and surround quality is better with the older G930 drivers.
