G930 sound cutting out

[ Edited ]

I just purchased a G930 on 8/3 and over the course of about 3-4 hours of use, the sound has cut out twice. Each time the wireless indicator on the USB dongle started blinking as if it was trying to reconnect. I'm sitting only about 2 feet from the transceiver and the only other active wireless device nearby is a wireless router.

I've been unable to find any info on the Logitech site on this device. Is there anything I should be making sure of in order to avoid interference and/or future cut outs?

After another 2-3 hours of continuous use, this occurred another 3 or so times. The times it occurred during the first post it was plugged in for charging, these all occurred while completely wireless. Same distance from dongle. Each time was the same as above: the sound cut out, a light hum was audible, the dongle light blinked, and then sound reconnected. This lasted approx. 5 seconds each time. No action on my part was necessary for sound to reconnect.

I see it's now on the Logitech website, but the troubleshooting page is blank. Is there no more info on troubleshooting this product?

Re: G930 sound cutting out

I just got mine today and I am having the same issue except with much more frequency. When I plug in the headset to charge it does this every 10-12 seconds non stop...when its not plugged in, it actually doesn't do this that often, maybe once every 10 minutes or so. However to pay 160.00 to have that going on, I'm starting to think I should have stuck with the G35 :smileysad:

How/where did you buy a G930 before 8/5? It wasn't even publically announced then, and Amazon did not have it for sale on their website until a few days later?

I will be investigating this issue and contacting you via PM if needed, but I am curious how you were able to get this headset before they were even available in the retail channels?

Re: G930 sound cutting out

Anyways, before we jump on the hardware fault train, let's try a couple things:

Do you have the USB receiver plugged into the charging base or directly into the PC

Do you have any other devices, like wireless routers, within a couple feet of the headset's receiver?

Have you tried this product on another PC?

Have you applied all microsoft hotfixes or updates to your system?

Have you applied all motherboard updates to your system?

Re: G930 sound cutting out

Just got my G930 today and I'm having the same problem - the sound will cut out (the light on the wireless receiver goes out for about 5 seconds) every 10 minutes or so.  I've tried all of the suggested fixes as well.  Moved the dongle from the charging base into a slot directly on the PC, turned off the wireless radio on my router and tried on another PC.  All updates have been applied.  Main PC is Windows 7 x64 and also tried on XP SP3.  The battery has a sufficient charge (at least according to the dashboard software) and this occurs with the Dolby switch in both positions.

If it helps I'm not having any problems with the wireless connections of either the MX Revolution or G700 mice in the same environment.

Any ideas?

Re: G930 sound cutting out

My case the sound was cutting out just about 4 feet, sometimes.  At some point I was able to wash dishes in my kitchen which is about 12 feet through two walls.  So its intermittent.

My G930 dongle is plugged on my monitor's usb port, which is on the edge of the screen, so its sticking out towards left.  I do have a few wireless stuff on my desk.  A microsoft wireless keyboard, an MX620 mice, and a wireless router on my desk.  Actually the MX620 has the hardest time, the existence of my G930 cuts the mice's wireless range to just about 1 foot from the receiver (I have the dongle plugged to a usb hub right in front of it).

I don't like additional wires on my desk so I don't use the hub/circular disk thingy.  I already have a microusb charger/data cable that I use for charging my phone as well.

I guess I have to live with the wireless jungle, huh?

Re: G930 sound cutting out

I recently picked up these headphones as well. I am having the same issue.

The headset cuts out every 30 minutes to an hour. It lasts about 5 seconds. After the sound returns, my mic is on (even if up / muted).

I have my headset USB plugged into my G15 keyboard.

Re: G930 sound cutting out

Hey guys!

It seems like I am not alone...which makes me a bit less frustrated. I recently recieved my g930 headset as well and I notice that it is constantly cutting out. I also figured out the problem! It is the dongle. Every time the headset gets near the dongle (withing 1-3 feet) the headset will cut out and then come back in. It is rather annoying but that is what I discovered. I am not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue but I hope it is ressolved soon. There really is no problem if the dongle is far away, but when I use my laptop the cutting out gets rather unbearable. I assume this is a flaw in the headset and not a none issue. If any logitech agent can shed some insight on this issue I and many others would greatly appreciate it.

Re: G930 sound cutting out

OK, so I stuck with it as fortunately when unplugged I get no sound loss whatsoever any more. The headset is great unplugged. However, if I have to connect USB to charge, I may as well take the headset off because the dongle resets every 10-12 seconds non stop...I have Windows 7 64 bit with the latest drivers for everything including the motherboard.

Since unplugging the headset is what I bought it for in the first place, for now this is a minor annoyance as I can charge the headset when I am not using it, but that said hopefully Logitech is looking into reasons why this is happening.

If you need any information system wise, I would be glad to provide it.
