H600 won't auto switch between pc and headset

How do I get this to automatically switch back to speakers when I turn off the headset -- and vice versa? Got the headset working with Skype, then turned off the headset, but sound not coming out of my PC? I do not want to have to go in and set this unit as default and then unset it each time I use it during the day....

Re: H600 won't auto switch between PC and headset

Getting sounds in and out of different channels and devices is a perennial headache.

Unfortunately, it is compounded by the use of USB devices and differences between motherboards and how they handle sound inputs and outputs. Unlike systems that use headphone jacks, USB sound system don't seem to be able to detect the insertion/removal of a device.

Then there is any software that the makers of the sound chips may throw into the mix.

I also have an H600 and find that  I have to go into Windows and tell it here to send sounds. The only automatic behaviour I can get is if I set something like Skype to always use the headset.

I usually end up messing around in the Windows Volume Mixer.

Not the answer you want, but if you look around this place you will see that this is regular question. Unless someone can come up with an alternative approach, you are stuck with having to work it out yourself.

Re: H600 won't auto switch between PC and headset

Hi,

This is odd as the headset is able to send an info to the computer whether it's turned on or off (same as it does with the volume) so it's just the matter of coming up with a software which would be able to automatically change a default speaker. I'm sure there would be a way of fixing this issue. Pleaaase

Re: H600 won't auto switch between PC and headset

I am also quite certain that a software fix can be developped.  However it would probably have to be Windows, not so much Logitech...

I am in the same situation with H800 headset.

Thinking about it though and putting things in perspective, if I compare with my wired headset, I still have to disconnect it from the front panel to switch between speakers and headset.  In the end, it's the little dongle vs the 1/8 jack...

Re: H600 won't auto switch between PC and headset

Indeed, and complicated by the fact that the dongle is a USB device. So Windows would have to watch that and the various headphone sockets

I wonder if Windows 8 finally gets to grips with sound in Windows. This is a pig of a thing to control.

The "Sounds" control hasn't changed in many versions of Windows. It causes many problems.

In this case, it really needs a more obvious control "Change to this sound output".

Of course, it would help if Logitech offered better guidance in the manuals that come with the headsets.
