H800 mic distorting

Hi,

Has anyone been having issues with the H800 mic during internet calls?

I use the following:

- WIndows 7

- Microsoft LiveMeeting and/or Microsoft Office Communicator

- Using the RF dongle (my laptop doesn't have bluetooth built-in)

The issue I have seems to be intermittent. At times I've been laughed at during my calls, and I'm told I sounded like a darth vader with a bad asthma and it was very difficult to hear what I was trying to say. It can get quite frustrating.

I have 2 dongles plugged in side-by-side. The other is a Logitech Anywhere mouse (unifying) dongle. Not sure if this is a cause for concern. But since it doesn't happen consistently so I can't be sure. But removing it means that I can't use the mouse, which isn't an option (Needed during screen shares).

I also have a USB (wired) Plantronics headset which I have never had issue with. I prefer the H800 because my Plantronics only have a single side headset. Being able to move around without cables helps too.

If I could only resolve the mic issue, this would be a fantastic product for me. *fingers crossed*

Re: H800 mic distorting

Hello Mainframe33,

Does the problem only occur when on an internet call? Does it happen if you try recording in something like Windows built in sound recorder? Have you tried a different application? i.e. Skype, MSN Messenger. The two receivers shouldn't be causing any problems, otherwise your sound would have problems as well.

Kind Regards,

Re: H800 mic distorting

The only issue that I have with this unit, is that after about 6 months of 'daily' use, the range is way down when using the RF dongle.  It does not seem that bad with BlueTooth though.  Also, if I walk out of range on the USB dongle, then walk back in range, once and a while, I have to do a battery pull to get it to repair.  That is ticking me off just a little bit as too many battery pulls leads to fatigue and failure of the connecting mechanism.
