High Pitched Sound with Logitech G35

Just got the G35 headset, sound is great, but when I use vent, skype or any program where the mic is active, I get a low volume but annoyingly high pitched sound in the headset (gets louder when I mute the mic). The sound is not being recorded though. I've tried plugging the headset into different USB ports and I've tried it on different computers (running both XP and Vista), no luck. So anybody experienced or have any knowledge of this problem, or should I assume I got a defective headset?

Hi wind,

Thank you for the excellent post. The fact that you have tried it on a number of computers with the same result leads me to believe your set is defective.

Please contact Technical Support and we will happily replace it.

Re: High Pitched Sound with Logitech G35

I have this same issue.  Whenever I am using any program that records sound (Ventrilo, Windows mic test, etc) I get a high pitched sound (but only on the right side) that gets louder if I mute the mic.  This goes away in Ventrilo if I open setup.  It happens on both my desktop and my laptop (Windows 7 and Vista, respectively) so I wasn't sure if it could be due to a defective set or due to driver issues.

Is this indeed a result of a defective headset?

Thanks,

Andrew

Re: High Pitched Sound with Logitech G35

[ Edited ]

i just got my set today also, and it seems to be doing the same thing. i too only hear it while the mic is initialized, and also is only in the right can.

however i have just made a discovery. i can eleminate this high pitched sound by reducing the mic's frequency. if i move it down to 8KHz (telephone quality), then the sound is pretty much inaudible. it gets harder to hear with each reduction of mic frequency.

i dont believe the local store where i bought them today has any more in stock so if this is definatly a hardware issue i suppose i'll be in contact with support in the morning :smileysad:

e/ i cant seem to find some of the required information for the "email us" page.

where is the pid, s/n, and p/n? with the G35. i've looked all over and i'm not seeing the little logitech tag with that info anywhere.

e2/ it also seems that when i press the mic mute button, the volume of the speakers gets reduced :E?
e3/ i just tried this on my 32bit xp system, and it actually worked perfectly. i currently suspect the vista 64 driver, or the pcie sound card i have installed in my vista64 system is perhaps causing some conflict.
heres some relivent system specs for both computers
vista64 system (one with the issue):
Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 motherboard
Creative X-Fi Titanium (pci-e) sound card, installed in the topmost pci-e slot
ports tested: front pannel usb, g19's usb ports, and rear pannel usb ports
XP32 system (one without the high pitched sound)
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard
Creative Audigy2zs Gamer edition sound card (PCI 2.0) installed in topmost PCI slot
front and rear usb ports both function properly with the G35 headset.
e4/ it would seem that by reducing the mic frequency, all of the voice morphers become imposible to understand. this isnt really much of a problem for me as i didnt really get the headset to sound like a robot (tho it is fun messing with people). on the whole i would like a fix for this, but its not vital to my enjoyment of the headset, not for me at least its not.
i'd like to know if you other guys with this issue are testing on 64bit platforms?

Re: High Pitched Sound with Logitech G35

Same here, high pitched sound (only the right side) with programs like Ventrilo or Skype. It's getting louder when i mute the mic.

Switched from Vista to Windows7, had no problems with Vista. So i assume it's a driver issue.

Thanks in advance for help

guys post some system specs if your having this issue. it seems like this issue can, at least in some instances be resolved on different computer, or at least different OS's, though the pattern of difference doesnt make sense

mine is clear under xp32, tripods isnt, mine has the problem under vista 64, H4's didnt, but deveolped it under windows7 (very odd indeed)

i cant help but think this is some deep dark driver conflict we are having with another device, or potentially an issue with some odd internal componant.

i would like to really confirm this for sure if i can before i attempt an exchange because i really dont believe it to be an issue with the headset hardware.

I just got a pair in the mail a few hours ago, tried it with COD:WAW - sound worked great. Got on ventrilo just a few minutes ago, and I have the same problem. Its a faint high-pitched squeal, and changing the vent settings doesnt seem to help. I really would like this issue fixed without having to send back the headset, I just got it! :smileysad:

Also running Windows 64
