Hi DanielV,
I wrote a plugin that allows you to control VLC using your G keys, you can get the plugin here:
this plugin is still a work in progress and should be considered highly experimental, let me know if you come across any issues.

I've been wondering why standard media keys that work with nearly all media application (like the ones on keyboards) can't be implemented for the G930? All I'd want is universal pause/play really, and I can't fathom why this is not already part of the G930 software since it works out of the box on keyboards.

I could update the plugin to add a standard "play/pause" shortcut. My implementation of play/pause works only with vlc/foobar becuase I check to make sure they are running first.
If they arent running, hitting play/pause launches foobar/vlc instead of sending the "play/pause" key.
Check back later tonight/tommorow morning, ill post an updated link with the new version.

plugin finished, you can now have it send a play/pause key to windows, allowing for play/pause functionality on most media players.
