Microphone: Logitech USB Desktop Microphone
Operation System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Just received my microphone yesterday from Amazon. Plugged it in, it detected drivers immidietly and said the device was ready to use. I tried recording and noticed you could barely hear anything in the recording at all. When I put the mic 1 inch from my mouth you can hear it better but it's still too quiet. I tried uninstalling it and having it reinstall the drivers. Same issue occured. I went into the microphone properties and turned the Microphone Level up to 100. That didn't do anything. Tried a different USB port and rebooted, same issue. Tried it on my 2nd computer which has the same operating system, exact same issue.
I am out of ideas. Anyone know of a solution?

It sounds like you have a defective microphone. You should contact customer service in your region for assistance.

Same here, should I return it to the orignal vender or do it though the warrenty? because I only got it today and they have a 30 day returns policy. although when I put it into Ubuntu 11.05 and put it to 150% I get a semi decent volume, but the sound quilty is pretty shockingly bad.

Yeah that sounds like the same issue. You should take it back to the original vendor, if that isn't a problem for you. If you have any problems with that, you can contact customer service in your region.

Same problem here. Microphone is very quiet. I have to be within several inches of the mic for people to hear me on Skype or Google Voice. They tell me I sound "far away." The bar on the meter barely comes off zero with this mic.
My non-USB mics work just fine on the same machine. I have the recording devices slider all the way to 100.

Most probably the microphone has been assembled wrong: the two wires connecting mic element to a circuit board are soldered in reverse. You should return it to the vendor or solder it yourself, the solution is here: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Headphones-Headsets-
