Alright, I bought my headset probably around a year ago, and all of the sudden, the mic isn't picking up my voice. I did not change any settings or restart my computer or anything, it just randomly stopped.

I am using the ClearChat™ Comfort USB headset.

I am very familiar with computers, but this one stumped me.

It was working fine, and I had no problems at all. But now, it doesn't pick up ANY voice chat, but the earphones are still giving me sound as they normally would.

I tested my microphone using many different programs, and none of them picked up that any sound was being made.

My microphone is NOT on mute, and I have checked all of my audio settings, which I have set up so that my headphones were the source of audio and recording. Both say they are "working" but clearly, they are not. Also, I have all my settings up to 100 volume, so that is not the problem.

Is the microphone just broken? Please help. I use the mic on a regular basis and need it.

I have the same problem. I bought the Clear Chat headset, and after 1 month of it working perfectly, the microphone suddenly stopped working.  I went back to the store and bought another -- and this time also bought the 1-year warranty. What do you know, after another 1 month of using it, the microphone just died on my new headset. 

I have checked the mute button, the volume, tried it in other ports, and even tried it in another computer. NOTHING works.  It was working fine earlier, and now I can only hear through the headphones but no one can hear me.

This product line must be defective, but I am really glad I paid the extra $6 for a warranty so I can get a new one.  I am not too happy with having to go back to the store yet again, though.  I wonder how many more times I will have to go back over the course of this year?

I have the exact same problem with Windows XP.  Worked fine for months and then one day, nothing.  I'm going out today and buy another cheap headset and just consider them throw-aways.

I thought I had the same problem - the mic was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped. Checked all the settings, everything looked good. Found out what my problem was in another forum:

"The red light indicates that the headset mute is on. Press the center insert on the right side headset and the light should go away and the distant end should now be able to hear you."

That's exactly what was wrong - the microphone arm indicator was indeed red and when I pressed the center insert on the right side, it went away and it was working perfectly again!
