Internet Headsets + Phones (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

Hi,

I have had my Logitech USB Headset for about two and a half years, and in that time everything has worked properly.

This morning, I plugged the headset into a USB port and noticed something odd happening. My HardwareGrowler notifications showed the headset to be connecting and disconnecting in turn freuquently, as seen here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1219395/myheartbrokewhengrabupdid/headset.swf

This behavior repeated in every port I tried, while all other devices are functioning properly even when connected to those same ports. I also got the same constant connecting/disconnecting notifications while the headset was connected to my laptop.

I'm running Mac 10.5.8 on my desktop and 10.6.2 on the laptop.

I'm assuming it's a short in the wire somewhere, although from the outside the set looks brand new and without any kinks in the cable. I couldn't find a description of such behavior in any of the other forum posts, so I thought I'd post here to try to get a solution before buying a new headset.

Hi,

I think your assumption is correct. There is a wire loose somewhere causing the intermittent connection.
