I have just bought the G15 gaming keyboard with the blue backlight (lovely piece of hardware!) and plugged it into my XP machine. However the volume scroll wheel and mute button do not work at all in XP. All the other media keys around the volume scroll wheel work as expected.
I have tested the keyboard in iTunes, RealPlayer, and Windows Media Player. I can change the track, play/pause etc etc in iTunes and the others but I cannot change the volume with the scroll wheel or the mute button, even with the application open.
I have upgraded to the 1.04 version (XP 32 bit) of the drivers but no luck. I have also tested the keyboard on my Vista Laptop (version 1.02 (32 bit), I did not upgrade to the latest drivers) and it all works! I can change the volume with the scroll wheel and the mute button in iTunes and others.
I also have another crappier media keyboard with volume controls (up, down, mute) and they all work when this keyboard is plugged in. This keyboard did not come with drivers or software and plugs in via PS/2.
I suspect that some other application/driver is blocking the G15's access to the volume controls or there is a problem with the XP version of the latest drivers.
Has anybody had the same problem or can you suggest a possible solution to the problem?
Thanks.

My G15 is replacing my Cordless MX Duo but I still plan on keeping the wireless keyboard connected so I can use it from my bed. The media keys on my Cordless MX Duo work just the way I wanted but not on my G15. Is it because I have both keyboards connected that the media keys don't work properly on the G15? Is it a driver issue? Should I uninstall the iTouch software that goes with my cordless keyboard?

I don't think it is a driver conflict with another keyboard. I tried my G15 on a fresh XP install, all it had were the basic drivers, XP and iTunes. Still the buttons don't work.
As I said above I have ruled out the buttons being defective as they work on a Vista Laptop with driver version 1.02. I also don't think your wireless keyboard is the problem. I could be wrong. Try uninstalling the software and see if it makes a difference. Please post your results. I don't think it will however.
I think it is a busted driver, as when I upgrade to version 1.04 of the drivers all the media keys stopped working! At the moment I'm following a long and complicated procedure from Logitech support to remove the software from my machine and install in again. I'm not sure I could be bothered. will give it a try in the new year as I'm off on holiday soon. By then they would have closed the file and I'll have to start it again, but oh well....
I hope someones else has some ideas. Thanks.

What version of your driver are you using? I think there is version 2.0, and a version 2.x beta for the orange version.
Try using the latest version you can find, the one for the orange backlit LCD and the blue one. See if either version makes a difference to you.
I have the blue backlight version but I have not yet had the chance to test if the drivers for the orange version will work. I'm not hopeful but I'll give it a try when I get some time.
Please post your results here.
Thanks.
