I love my G series keyboard, have for years, and is even better now that I am exploring LUA scripting. There is one thing I really wish would be added to the API for the LUA support, OS support. The script I was attempting to write now is not possible without being able to make an OS execute call. I am playing a game that is still very unstable but pretty much takes control of all of the keys I need to counter that. The game locks up but the OS continues to run and since the game has control of the keyboard I have no graceful reboot options. I need to be able to make a call to shutdown.exe with parameters passed so I can soft reboot the system instead of having to use the reset for a hard reset. Please add OS support into the API.
I believe the reason we don't add something like that is so that people cannot pass malicious scripts through to the OS. Unfortunately, as a major company, we have to consider things like that and make our software as safe as possible for the general audience.
I can understand the need for such caution, but still, darn, that stinks. Thanks for the quick response, the support will never be there so while it is not a resolved issue it becomes a closed issue. Pretty much to make it a resolved issue all the lawyers in the world would have to vanish and every mind wiped of the idea of lawsuits, especially ones as inane as "I downloaded something from the internet on a site I know nothing about and it used your software to mess up my computer." It is really a shame software has to be crippled to deal with the combination of malicious people and people who act without caution (understated and termed overly kindly for the general audience).
