MX 5000 Keyboard and iTunes script errors

I have recently installed an MX 5000 laser keyboard combo and now have problems closing iTunes (version 7.6).  It gives me the following script error:

"One or more applications are using the iTunes scripting interface. Are you sure you want to quit?"

If I go into task manager and kill setpoint.exe before closing iTunes, I do not get any errors and iTunes closes properly.  This problem has been discussed here:  http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6376860 but no solutions have been provided.

I have tried going into the setpoint software settings and removing any affiliations between the keyboard and iTunes, however, every time I play something in iTunes, the LED screen still shows what's playing.  I assume that getting rid of that affiliation might fix this problem?

Please help.

Re: MX 5000 Keyboard and iTunes script errors

Hello Logitech - I love the products but you MUST FIX THIS extremely irritating problem caused by the scripting interface with iTunes. ("one or more applications are using the itunes scripting interface..." are you sure you want to quit)

As a results of the calls between Set Point and iTunes (most recent versions of both at the time of writing - May '08) there is a 20 seconds delay and a very irritating message as the user tries to exit iTunes.

I really don't need to control iTunes directly from any of my Logitech peripherals - it's perfectly adequate to use the iTunes GUI as normal.

The feature that is causing the scripting error should be removed or there should be an option to disable it. It really is too irritating to get that message every time I try to close iTunes.

Re: MX 5000 Keyboard and iTunes script errors

I agree that there definitely needs to be an option in setpoint to turn this off. The issue for me is that it KILLS the batteries in my keyboard. There is no option to turn it off in iTunes, and there is no option to turn it off in setpoint (that I can find).

Re: MX 5000 Keyboard and iTunes script errors

Hello? Is Logitech out there?

I am going crazy waiting 20 seconds to turn off the iTunes.... I don't even have the fancy MX5000 keyboard....

BUMP

This needs fixed...

There's a potential for a lot of angry Logitech customers out there that get iPOD for Christmas, and then they have this problem with iTunes...
