Keyboard and Keyboard + Mice Combos with Mac (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

I hope that Logitech's management is reading this.

What we need in the future is a keyboard that sends the proper make/break key codes.  If I press the Eject key on the keyboard, I want it to send the same code as my Apple keyboard sends when I press the Eject key.  I don't want the Option key to send a Command key code and the Command key to send an Option keycode. I don't want to have to remember that, during boot-up, the Option and Command keys are swapped.

We don't want to load Logitech mouse drivers just because we are using Logitech keyboards.  Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?

We don't want a crippled preference panel for mapping keys.  If someone wants to define that Volume-Up controls the system volume and Option-Volume-Up controls the iTunes volume, they should be able to.

For those of us who continue to need drivers, Logitech needs to get their butts in gear so that the driver is ready when the OS updates come out -- even if the OS gets released early.  Apple makes beta versions of the OS available to developers for months prior to release.  One-man operations producing shareware were ready when Snow Leopard shipped but Logitech was not?  Please!  It's infuriating that Logitech gets Windows drivers ready and tested weeks before a new Windows OS is released and it takes multiple weeks after the release of Snow Leopard before some buggy, undertested driver reaches us.

Logitech's engineering and management team need to read these forums and treat bug reports seriously.  For two years, Mac users have been reporting an inability to eject their second optical drive using the standard Apple keyboard shortcut -- all the way back to LCC 2.3x.  And it still has not been fixed.  Logitech's engineers should have seen that report, tested to see if the problem could be verified, opened up a bug report, and assigned someone to fix it. 

I'm totally sorry that I chose to buy the Logitech Wave corded keyboard.  I've gone back to my Apple keyboard and may give my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 another try -- since Microsoft's keyboard driver was so much better than Logitech's.

I've been using and recommending Logitech products for years. I've only been a Mac user for a little over 1.5 years now, but the lack of support in OS X is really appalling (and I sent feedback to that effect in a recent survey after installing LCC 3.1, and having it tell me I had no Logitech devices - I was updating from LCC 2.7, which worked fine.)

I purchased the Cordless Wave Pro desktop set (keyboard & Mouse - mainly for the mouse, actually, but I love the keyboard too) a little over 6 months ago. Yes, officially it's not Mac-compatible; yes, it's not officially supported by Logitech (as far as I can tell) ... so WHY did you bother to put Mac KEYS on it, if it was never intended to be used on an Apple computer? Just by having a Command key symbol (not to mention an Option key) just screams that it can be used on a Mac (and if installed on Leopard with at least LCC 2.7, it works FLAWLESSLY.)

Updating LCC 2.7 to 3.1 after upgrading to Snow Leopard killed it -- LCC can no longer even see my mouse or keyboard, and I'm not willing to reinstall Leopard, reinstall LCC 2.7, then re-upgrade to Snow Leopard just so my Command and Option keys aren't reversed. As good as Logitech hardware is, it's just not worth the hassle.

I may end up buying a Bluetooth Logitech MX 5500 refurb desktop set, specifically for the mouse (it's worth the refurb price by itself), and use SteerMouse to control it. I'll have to look for a decent Bluetooth keyboard from some other source though - I don't think they've managed to fix the option-eject keystroke for the DiNovo Mac keyboard (assuming it uses the latest LCC), and frankly I'm about ready to give up on Logitech completely, if that MX Revolution mouse wasn't so incredible (and fit my hand so perfectly.)

Logitech -- PLEASE start supporting your Mac users the SAME as your Windows users! There may always be more people using Windows, but you know how loyal the Mac community tends to be about favorite brands!

Well due to my continued frustrations with lack of support, I have contacted Amazon, who I'm pleased to say have offered me a full refund due to this debacle. I will miss the keyboard, but I suppose I'll be buying peripherals from Apple from now on.

I have a Mac Pro with 2 DVD drives on Snow Leopard.  This has happened in the past with previous version of LCC on Leopard and Tiger as well.  Before installing LCC, I was able to eject the top DVD drive using the eject key and the bottom DVD drive using Option + Eject.  After installing LCC, when pressing Option + Eject, only the top drive eject.  I've contacted Logitech support before but they just brushed it off.  Come on Logitech, please fix this error.  This is very annoying.

I installed this last night and no it does not fix the problem.  I reported the problem to Logitech last year and they just brushed it off.

I reported the same problem (inability to eject second optical drive) weeks ago - long before the release of the Snow Leopard version of LCC.  Reports of this problem on this forum go back to version 2.3.x of LCC -- two years ago.

I've come to the conclusion that I made a terrible mistake in trusting Logitech for Mac products.  I had been a customer of their on the PC side and had been satisfied.  But they seem to have very little interest in supporting Mac users in any meaningful way.

As I write this, I do so on my Apple keyboard.  My Logitech Wave is packed away until/unless Logitech gets serious about Mac support.

Well I ended up buying that refurb MX 5500 set off of eBay about a week ago, and have been enjoying the new wireless (Bluetooth) that no longer needs a dongle, as well as a convenient charging stand for the mouse.

Another happy "fix" that came from buying this set is that -- get ready for it -- even though LCC doesn't support these devices (at least not that I've seen yet), you can FINALLY hit Option-F12 to eject the second CD!

Logitech, you can do this on a completely unsupported keyboard, but can't do it on Mac-supported keyboards with LCC? That's really embarrassing...

I really hope one day you decide to support this awesome keyboard/mouse combo officially on the Mac. Until then, I'll be using Steermouse to control the mouse, and I was able to get a tiny program running that shifts my Windows/Alt keys to be Command and Option, just the way it's supposed to be on a Mac keyboard.

The other functions aren't a big deal to me, other than that I like having the temperature show up, as well as hitting the calculator button lets me enter values directly onto the built in screen (so some things are supported by default...)

I've stopped recommending Logitech to anyone who owns a Mac, because of the poor support. Of course I still highly recommend it to PC users (I do run Windows 7 also, just not very often.)

Come on Logitech, you guys are better than this...
