Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

Digilante, I think you'll be fine with it for your Windows box, but I agree that waiting is the right move if you want to use it with your Mac as well (on a side note, I don't notice any lag -- indeed the keyboard seems more responsive than the LX700 keyboard, so gaming oughtn't be a problem). I'm really getting annoyed with the keyboard's limitations (but I really like the mouse...hmmm). Also, it's obvious that I need to disable bluetooth waking because I came home to a dead battery on the MBP again (whereas I never had that problem with my RF based keyboard/mice).

Also, it just feels like a complete waste to get a keyboard with all of these bells and whistles when only 2 of them actually work. However, I fully recognize Logitech never claimed they'd work for a Mac, so I don't blame them for that. Honestly, I don't, but I (and others) would love for them to support this set for OS X as they are really nice pieces, just hindered. The more I use the keyboard, the more I like the feel of it, but eh...I'm tired of complaining and I'm sure others are tired of reading it.

My last attempt to convince this keyboard to work may be to install Setpoint in Fusion and try to get it to run in Unity mode. Just for kicks. Interesting (possible) solution, at least. I may give ControllerMate a whirl as well, but I don't see any evidence of it supporting this keyboard, let alone being able to utilize the LCD or other functions.

In the end, I may keep the set just for the mouse (my understanding is that the Revolution isn't sold as a bluetooth mouse individually), but give an Apple Wireless Pro keyboard a whirl.

Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

I just got the MX 5500, but I can't seem to get my MBP to recognize the mouse in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Could someone tell me how to do it?

Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

I was able to do this on my iMac by using it's Bluetooth assistant/wizard to initiate a search for devices then pressed the connect button on the bottom of the mouse.  It paired and started working instantly, same thing for the keyboard albeit with some awkward mappings (i.e., function keys).

Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

Your guys wasting your time to wait for the answer.  During recession, Logitech does not have anymore money to spend on these web support so they already fired all of them.  You are in your own now with your best guess.  If you look back into some of the new posting, there is no longer any Logitech Tech.

Good luck all, I also want that answer too.

Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

I have one of the new iMac's and an MX5500 keyboard and mouse set. It pairs and works nicely using the Mac's own Bluetooth receiver (the Logitech one is in the drawer gathering dust) but when the Mac goes to sleep it loses the pairing and I can't wake the system and have to reboot and allow the wizard to re-pair them.

Interestingly, If I have the MX5500 gear plus an Apple Bluertooth mouse+keyboard paired, only the Logitech pairing is lost and I can wake the system using the Apple devices, a bit daft having two sets of input peripherals connected though.

I've not experimented with key mappings beyond Steermouse.

This is a major failure of Logitech because I'm now looking at selling the flakey MX5500 and replacing with something else. Do they not care ?

Re: MX 5500 Mac Compatibility?

Clearly they dont care about mac users. Anything beyond the most basic functionality on a mac is nonexistant, and the keyboard is not picked up by LCC, so i cant set the time and date, cant use the media control buttons, cant re-map my mouse buttons or change their functions (i cant get steermouse to map what I want to certain buttons). Is it THAT hard to write keyboard drivers for mac os x?
