Dear Logitech

What happened to your Mac keyboards?

Are you no longer developing keyboards for the Mac OS?

I love my DiNovo, but it'd be perfect if it had backlit keys. I came to your site this morning and see that not only are there no new keyboard offerings for Macs, but there are no non-gaming keyboards for Mac period.

I would like to know as well. I would consider getting the diNovo keyboard which would look great sitting next to my MX Revolution, but had it reached end of life that fast, well, that would be a deal breaker.

If, on the other hand, there're new offerings coming, then that would be great.

Well, I bought the diNovo Mac Edition. Great keyboard to type on. No more phone like typing.

I just got a Mac a couple months ago and it bites that there's very few options available from Logitech. They make a number of my favorite products for PC, but it seems support for the Mac is pretty slim.

Am I to understand that none of the Logitech Mice are supported on the Mac/Control Center?

I really love my diNovo keyboard for Mac (not Edge). It's the finest keyboard I've ever used. I like it even more than the Keyboard of Keyboards--the Apple Extended Keyboard II.

But it'd be better if it were backlit and the spacebar were just as quiet as the other keys.

I'd still like to know if Logitech is actively developing Mac-compatible keyboards.

I sent an email to Logitech support and received a reply advising me to contact sales.

The fact that Logitech hasn't responded to this thread is disheartening.

Perhaps I should order another diNovo while they're still less than US$40.

Dear Doug

I believe just about all of Logitech's mice and trackballs are Mac compatible. I use the Trackball Explorer with the Logitech software, and it works fine. The scrolling is nothing like Apple's Magic Mouse, but it's what I use most of the time.

One of the more popular mouse drivers is USB Overdrive. You might give USB Overdrive a try if you get a Logitech mouse or trackball for your Mac and don't like the Logitech driver.

I have a desktop Wave Pro, and it does indeed work on my Mac. The problem is that Control Center doesn't detect either the mouse or keyboard. Which renders all those extra buttons and the ability to program buttons impossible. It kind of makes spending $100 on this completely not worth it as I bought it for it's customization options.

I totally agree with your thoughts. Keyboard is top-notch, but the spacebar could be quieter -reminds me the S530 Dekstop Mac Edition (white keyboard & white mouse) I also have-.

Mine was a bargain as well. I guess the PC-centric retailer didn't even sell a bit of these so the price went downhill. 21€ here in Spain is insanely cheap. It usually goes for 100 €.

As for USB Overdrive, Jaddie is right again, it might be your best option. I like Steer Mouse better but it will not help you to manage the Logitech keyboard, afaik starting with the version 3.0 USB Overdrive can manage USB keyboards, and 3.0.1 lists 'Added support for media buttons on Logitech keyboards' as feature, don't know if that covers all your needs.

Then, there is ControllerMate, but in all honest, it is too rough, kind of a nerds-only app. I can not see myself giving it a try.

Please note that whatever your option is, it can not run side by side with the Logitech Control Center installed. You would have to uninstall LCC in order to run any of those.

Ah, I see. I misunderstood Jaddie's post about USB Overdrive. The word 'driver' threw me off, as I guess it means something different on a PC, which is what I'm more used to.

So far USB Overdrive seems awesome. For some crazy reason all of my previous presets are still working. And I'm talking about on a program to program basis. That's great! Pretty happy I don't have to reprogram all those programs and quick keys.

My issue with using the old version 2 of Control Center was that the scroll wheel would randomly get super sensitive. To the point where it was unusable. So I'd have to go back in to Contol Center to 'remind' it of it's settings. Annoying. Not as annoying as the fact that the newest version of Contol Center is incompatible with this $100 mouse/keyboard combo. That just stinks, Logitech.

Anyway, thank you both for your suggestion. I can only hope USB Overdrive will not constantly change the sensitivty of my scroll wheel. Only time will tell. Thanks again.

I have some very sad news to report.

Logitech has discontinued development of Mac-specific keyboards. The only Mac-compatible keyboard in active development is the Wave Pro, and it doesn't feature the Mac keys Command, Option, and Control.

What a blow!

I'm typing on the diNovo for Mac and it has the best feel of any keyboard I've ever used. And these one-touch keys to launch four key apps are super-convenient.

But none of this is worth being stuck with Windows keys.

I believe I might snatch up another diNovo before they're all gone.

But what next? Matias's US$150 Tactile Pro 3 is squarely aimed at Mac users, and it's a premium keyboard. But it isn't wireless, isn't backlit, has no media keys, and is noisy. (Honestly, though, if the noise is identical to the Apple Extended Keyboard II's noise, I could learn to live with that again.)

Logitech also abandoned development of the NuLOOQ design controller. Luckily, Wacom's Intuos4 series of tablets obviated the need for the NuLOOQ with its new Touch Ring.

I know the economy is in the crapper, but Logitech should keep its chin high and keep on developing Mac-specific PerfectStroke keyboards. Some of us who live on our Macs will pony up for a premium keyboard. But I guess "some" is not enough.

I'm so disappointed.
