Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

I have been going back and forth with Logitech Tech support to try to isolate the issue.  I moved the diNovo to my other computer with Vista, put it to sleep with the mini and had no problem waking the computer up the next morning, did that three times, so that leads me to believe that there is something about WIN XP MCE.  I guess, I'm still confused because not sure why any of that would have to do with why I have to remove the battery to get the connection again and have the computer wake up.

So, at this point, I'm packing up my diNovo and getting it exchanged for another one, just to rule out that I have a bad Mini although I think it's a moot point since it worked without a problem on my Vista machine.

I'm at a loss really, very frustrating.

I've been using another USB bluetooth receiver instead of the one Logitech provided with the diNovo mini, and haven't had the problem since... It's only been a few days, but it looks promising :smileyhappy:

Well, that is interesting.  I decided to exchange my mini for a new one and see where that takes me.

Two days later, and it still seems to work correctly. It is not THE solution ofcourse (things should work with the BT dongle provided), but nevertheless I am satisfied. Fortunately a BT dongle is fairly cheap!

What brand of BT Dongle did you get and where did you get it?  Also, what operationg system are you running and what kind of computer is it?

I didn't realize you could use any brand BT dongle, I thought they were matched?

Do you still use Set Point?

[ Edited ]
I'm using a cheap no-name BT2.0 dongle, which uses the BT drivers that come with Windows. In principle the Mini should work with any BT receiver, I read in other threads on this forum. Indeed the Logitech dongle and the Mini are matched, but the dongle can also work as a generic BT hub (connecting the Mini and any other BT device) by holding the red button pressed when inserting it into the USB port. Unfortunately it switches back to the standard mode after standby or reboot...

Anyway, I'm running XP MCE 2005 on a Shuttle SK62K mini PC, using Setpoint v4.40. I'm confident that using a separate BT dongle will also work for you :smileyhappy:

Same problem here, just randomly stops working.
Vista Ultimate x86, using USB dongle that came with mini in normal HID mode.

I found the quickest way to get things working again is to remove and reinsert the battery, it immediately starts working again.

PTR727,

The battery removal seems to be the only solution and it is very bizarre that the connection is immediate.  To me that says something about the mini itself, not necessarity the BT dongle?

Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

texasaggie94, I agree the problem is with the mini itself.

I followed all the troubleshooting steps in the manual, reboot, remove and reinsert dongle, hold red buttons, change USB ports, none worked.

Only solution is remove and reinsert the battery, works immediately.

I didn't see any port on the mini for firmware updates, is there a hidden port or other way for firmware updates?

Yes, it would seem it is a Mini issue and not a dongle issue... However I still found that using a different dongle solves the problem in my case. Which is more more convenient than having to cycle the Mini's power all the time :smileyhappy:
