Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

[ Edited ]
You can add me to the list of anxiously waiting customers.

Just bought this 2 days ago, and saw the same problems. Couldn't use it after Standby, and even under normal operation the keyboard randomly stops working. Sometimes just using the red button fixes it. Other times I have to remove the battery and then hit the red button on the BT dongle and then the red button on the device. Very annoying since this is for an HTPC and the BT dongle is buried behind my entertainment center...

Almost forgot.. using Vista Ultimate x64 on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H, AMD 4850e, 4GB DDR2 800 RAM.

Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

I'm also still waiting for a resolution from Logitech but, in the meanwhile, I made some test by myself and I found an interesting combination of actions that seem to work:

I'm using the original dongle with the latest release of software (4.60) in XP sp3

I found that if I send the standby command from dinovo mini (FN + 3) and before the computer goes to sleep I close the keyboard cover the connection isn't lost also after a week.

Otherwise if I wait that the computer goes to sleep and after I close the keyboard cover the problem occurs in a few ours.

Can anyone test this combination and confirm?

Interesting thought. I'll give it a shot, but it'll be somewhat difficult to confirm since it only takes about 1 second to put my htpc in standby. Would be nice for a temporary solution.

Ok, I tried this out. I put my htpc into sleep mode last night when I was done with it, making sure to close the cover immediately after hitting FN+3. This morning I opened the cover and touched the touchpad to wake it up, and the mini was working after about ~5 seconds. I only did this the one time, so as of yet I'm not convinced, but it's a positive start.

I also can't verify if this will solve my problem where the keyboard randomly stops working while using it.

I've been using Logitech's stuff for 10+ years. Great products. But I'm really disappointed with this one. I was really excited when I found out about it since I am have an HTPC. But this is either bad manufacturing or bad quality control. I'm guessing manufacturing since I can't figure a reason why you would release a product that has major bugs that can be reproduced under normal operation. Either way, I expect they should replace them or patch them.

I'm happy to see that this first test was positive.
I hope other people test and report their experience, it can be useful also for the logitech developer to found a definitive solution.

If they're actually working on the problem. It'd be nice to get an update being a month since they've posted on this thread. How hard can it be to write us a small update and tell us the progress or at least let us know they are actually working on it.

Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

I've got the diNovo Desktop Laser working on Windows Vista and I've got the same issue you guys have.  So different Logitech hardware, but it still uses the bluetooth dongle and I guess the same symptoms as a result.  The mouse and keyboard worked fine until the system was put in standby over night.  Coming out of standby I got no functionality with either device.  But putting it in standby for a brief period there is no issue.

This is not encouraging since the diNovo Desktop is not a new product and I've got the latest updated software/firmware.  I'm assuming these units are simply not compatible with standby mode.  My unit is one day old, so I may well return it if I can't get it to work out of standby.  The unit is useless under those conditions.

Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

Hi,

I have the same problem.
No response from Logitech support up to now (...after first standard response: ...do you have the latest SW, is the battera charged, try all USB ports, etc.)!
I think this keyboard is not usable without waking up the PC from sleep mode. So if I do not get any response from Logitech here or from Logitech email-support until Friday, I am returning it back. Otherwise it is a wast of time. It is obvious that the problem is known for a longer time and it is 100% reproducable, but Logitech is not trying to solve the problem (silent is not a solution). I recomed that to all of you. Then they will have at least high warranty costs!
On the other side I have a few other products from Logitech which are great. Because of that is my dissapointment huge.

I've been closing the lid of the mini before the standby process finishes ever since, and I've had no problems. Usually I only wake my htpc once a day, and leave it until before I go to bed. So it's usually in standby mode for anywhere from 8 to 20 hours, on a normal basis. So I'd say it's been successfully about 4 times now.

There are a lot of products that have issues with Windows's standby mode. Not that that excuses Logitech... I mean, the mini does DEFAULT to standby mode for the power button!

Re: Novo Mini Keyboard loses connection after some undeditermined time when computer is in standby

If this is indeed the problem with the mini then I can't imagine it would be hard to fix with a small firmware or software update. It's just a matter of getting Logitech to do it - it's by no means a permanent solution.

Well done though to varesino for figuring it out. It seems all the tests people have done are finding the same thing.
