We would like to make this patch available on the forums first to get feedback on it.
The patch fixes the issues listed below:
1) Control + Shift key combination bringing up Secure Encryption Wizard
2) 24 hour clock fix for European (with the exception of UK) MX 5000 sets
3) Firmware upgrade on MX 5000 / diNovo Media Desktop Laser receiver

You will need SetPoint 3.3 installed first before installing the patch.

Note: To upgrade the firmware on the MX 5000 and diNovo Laser receiver, the keyboard set has to be using either the Widcomm bluetooth stack or the Microsoft bluetooth stack.  You can view Article 5890 that explains how to have the desktop set in HCI mode (using Widcomm or Microsoft bluetooth stack).

Please post feedback on this thread about your desktop set after the patch is installed.
Thanks.

Is this topic also applicable for Vista?? Since Article 5890 mentions only XP as supported OS.

Also; device must run in HCI mode... this is not supported in Vista.

I'm feeling some frustration in the back of my head.
When will there be some clear information about Logitech's Bluetooth Desktop Devices running fully compatible with Vista.

cobex,

I referenced article 5890 but this topic also applies to Vista as well.  In Vista, install SetPoint with the receiver plugged into a USB port and it will activate the Microsoft bluetooth stack after installation.  Then apply the patch.
If you see the bluetooth icon on your taskbar, your desktop set should be in HCI mode already.
The MX 5000 and diNovo Media Desktop Laser will run in Vista in HCI mode with the Microsoft bluetooth stack.

Prollpower,

On the receiver in your USB port, what is the P/N?

What kind of error message are you getting and when are you getting it?

P/N is 831406-1000
The BT DFU Wizard can't write any FW (No matching device)
Tested with the RR4005_B0073.dfu; RR4006_B0077.dfu; RR5103_B0072.dfu and RR5103_B0077.dfu Firmware.
An older version of BT DFU Wizard could write every file but the BT make some Problems on wake up from S3-mode. (Crashed the Setpoint/Widcomm System)
XP hangs on these Programs. Can't exit them with Taskmanager. Must do some hard reset.
Actually the RR4004_B0062.dfu (delivered with 3.15 Setpoint for BT) works without trouble after S3. But some time after installation (3.15... 3.30) the Keyboard won't get any properly connection. Often some Alphabetics would be resumed for many time after some pause oder when especially play some music in Media Player (because of LCD) - Example: "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of these will be................."
Another thing are long connection times and connection lost for a longer time when playing Music in Media Player. (The Music title changes, the Display actualies and some times the KB will - and needs some time to reconnect. In this time it isn't possible to write something.

Sorry, english isn't my motherlanguage. I'm hopefully think you understand me, of course.

My dongle reads:

M/N: C-UV35
P/N: 831406-100

Removed all overclocking and reverted to factory default settings for the test.

System summary:

ASUS Commando w/0902 Bios
C2D X6800
Memory Bank 0: Corsair Dominator CM2X1024-8500C5D (5-5-5-15-2T @ 1066)
Memory Bank 2: Corsair Dominator CM2X1024-8500C5D (5-5-5-15-2T @ 1066)
GeForce 8800 GTX
ViewSonic VX2025w
SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtrememusic (Dell OEM)
WDC WD1500AHFD (aka Raptor-X)
WDC WD3200KS
TSST Corp SH-S183A DVDRW
Atheros AR5005GS WNIC
Marvell Yukon 88E8056 Gb-NIC (only PCI-E one enabled)

Connected via USB:

Dymo LabelWriter Duo
Epson Stylus Photo R300
Casio EX-Z850 (mounted as removable HDD)

All running in WinXP SP2 with all the latest security patches/updates applied.

Observations:

After the installation the dongle shows firmware version 2.1.245.0. In my infinite stupidity I forgot to take note of the version before the patch.

What I'm sure has changed is the LMP Subversion: from 41EE to 41F5.

Immediately after the dongle was reverted to "operational" mode, a message warning about a keyboard pairing error showed up. Upon opening the "My Bluetooth Places" an error occurred with explorer.exe on the msvcrt.dll library, and the system became unresponsive.

After reboot, and using the connection wizard this time, I was able to pair the keyboard again. However, any attempt to open "My Bluetooth Places" will invariably result in the same error.

The keyboard has reverted to it's pre-SetPoint 3.15 behaviour, "hanging" while displaying the media progress bar, lagging, repeating characters...

I will keep the current setup to do more testing, but eventually I will revert to the pre-patch SetPoint 3.30/firmware for everyday use, as the patch has noticeably degraded the keyboard's performance and negatively affected the system stability.

*Edited to clarify a couple of things*

Hello,

This little message to let you know that the patch solved my problem under Vista. I can now use left side CTRL and SHIFT together without being annoyed by the "Encryption Wizard"

Thanks for the patch,

Ulric
