Ancient wired Logitech Access + Setpoint = dead F-keys

[ Edited ]

Hi there,

seems like I've got a rather interesting problem.

Until now, I ran iTouch for my Access keyboard at Win7, and yes, it actually really worked. I had all the F-key-functionality. However that happened. On the other side I ran Setpoint for my MX518 mouse, wich worked, too.

A few days ago, maybe a week, I got prompted to update my Setpoint.

Bad idea.

My fault that I really updated working software, but my must-update-drivers-reflex kicked in and, well, whatever.

Now I'm stuck with dead drivers.

First, everything seemed fine. The graphics of Setpoint were updated from the pixelated green stuff to something more sophisticated, fine enough, but after a day or two it stopped working. While I was able to change the volume via my keyboard, nothing else worked. E-Mail, Webcamer, Homepage, Search, Webcam, Messenger, the F-keys, dead.

I reinstalled the new Setpoint and, woot, it worked again.

Until I rebooted.

After every reboot I got prompted to update my drivers, wich I did, wich kept prompting, wich I kept updating, and everytime I updated, my functionality was gone.

After some time, I noticed that the functionality of my F-keys and everything else was gone even after a reinstall of Setpoint, don't ask me why.

Long story short, nothing works anymore, and I saw that everything that's installed are generic PS/2 windows drivers. Sometimes I'm able to press the "install Logitech PS/2 drivers" button at Setpoint, but it changes nothing.

Quite incoherent story. Hopefully someone has an idea. I really don't appreciate my gone keyboard functionality very much, no matter how outdated Logitech might think that their older stuff might be. I've been quite happy with it until now, thanks for the concern. And I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be a Logitech product if I really have to buy a new one now just for some extra buttons to open frequently used folders and programs.

PS: And why in the name of God vanished the formatting as soon as I hit the send-button? Jesus christ.

Hi Dirili,

What are the M/N and P/N numbers, located on the bottom of your keyboard?

Best Regards,

Yeah, should've added those by myself. Sorry.

By the way, I'm still getting prompted every reboot to download and install updates. Un- and reinstalling the whole package as administrator changes nothing.

Re: Ancient wired Logitech Access + Setpoint = dead F-keys

Unfortunately, your keyboard is not compatible with Setpoint and iTouch is not actually supported for use with Windows 7. That being said, since you were able to install iTouch on your PC without any problems I'm not going to suggest you remove it.

Regarding the issue of constantly being prompted to update Setpoint, you can try uninstalling your current version and install Setpoint 6.22 in clean boot mode.

If the issue persists, I suggest removing Setpoint by installing a 30-day free trial of Revo Uninstaller, which will completely remove any trace of the software (including left-over registry items) from your PC. Once the software has been uninstalled, please install Setpoint 6.22 in clean boot mode.

I hope this helps!
