Keyboards and Keyboard/Mice Combo Sets

Hi,

I was deciding whether to get the logitech illuminated keyboard or the Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth ed.

I can't buy the Razer at the moment here in the UK anyhow, and it's > twice the price of the logitech one. Anyhow, I do quite a lot of gaming and wondered in the logitech keyboard had similar ghosting issues with the arrow keys and other key combinations as it does with the WASD keys? I only use the arrow keys for FPS gaming, often in comination with the right shift/right ctrl or other keys.

Can someone elaborate on what a "keyboard matrix" is?  i.e. is it one solid matrix, or are there several within the keyboard.  I notice that w-shift-space are relatively close together.  So is it any three simultaneous keystrokes?  Or just 3 localized ones? 

For my gaming needs I use the arrow keys with my right hand and my command strokes are the left hand.  So my 3-key press might be "up arrow" "shift" "4".  I don't really want a gaming keyboard because I use the keyboard for a lot of other tasks.

I'm another customer who's been caught out by this SHIFT+W+SPACE problem.

While I might accept the claim that such a limitation is a design issue, it directly conflicts with the needs of many users out there and seems wholly unnecessary given that the vast majority of other keyboards don't have this problem.

I have never before encountered a keyboard with such a restriction, so the excuse that it's not a gaming keyboard seems a rather blatant deflection from a major failure of design.  A car with no brakes could be similarly excused as a "design issue" to customers who previously trusted the manufacturer.

As such, potential customers should be given fair warning of this.

In my case I did the typical "trusted company" pre-purchase research on the product and found no warning (certainly not in the given product description), and only discovered the problem when I installed the keyboard.  I'll be much more wary of Logitech products in the future because of this.

Logitech, please warn your customers of such issues in the product description, rather than let them find out the hard way with all the hassle of returns and seeking a replacement.  I've been using your products for many years, and feel very let down by this.

It's a shame, as it's an otherwise very nice keyboard.

Without the problem I'd have given this device 9/10. Longer extensible legs would have made it perfect.

As it stands with the key combo problem and lack of warning, 3/10.

i searched stores hesitently, looking for THE keyboard. the one that felt "right". and i found it. the logitech illuminated.
i got it for my birthday, and used it to play the numerous games i own. what i saw shortly after was how frustrating it is to be incapable of simultaneously pushing 3 buttons, which is the norm in ever other keyboard in existance, save the logitech illuminated.

logitech is by far (or formerly was) my favorite, most trusted company. but to see how such a simple, vital combination of buttons was left out of a keyboard, possibly on purpose, or due to cheap parts, is infuriating. then to see that the issue has been around for about a year now just adds to salt to the wound. this draws into question the integrity of the rest of logitech. what other corners have been cut? do you have to get a gamer edition to complete simple tasks? hell, will the vowel buttons be restricted to "HARDCORE GAMERS", and i have to shell out a grand just to get a keyboard so "my sntncs dnt lk lk ths?"

so now, i am asking. can i return this product, possibly to logitech directly, and get something that fulfills my needs without having to go out and buy another keyboard? or do you honestly believe i need to get a clunkly, clique'd gamer keyboard to do something so simple? will i honestly need to pay another hundred bucks to use 3 buttons at once?

im disgusted. Logitech, you're better than this.

this error needs to be corrected. don't let us just seeth here, wringing our hands in frustration. its not fair to your customers.
though i doubt it will. my only hope is that i can return this product to you, and get something of equal value.

Which illuminated keyboard?

I have no problems pressing three keys on the K800. I do this often to activate macros in Macro Express and Clipmate.

It might help if you explained what you are doing. "Pressing thing keys" isn't much to go on. Then a real expert might be able to help you.

Dear Logitech,

I used to work as a tech support rep myself so I`ll be as polite as possible. **bleep** do you mean with the fairy tail story about the keyboard matrix? How come that if I swtich key bindings it works with Shift + E + Space or any other key except W for that matter? This is the first logitech keyboard I bought I hope you will adress this asap so that it won`t be my last.

Unfortunately for me, I did not anticipate the posibility that a company as prestigious as logitech would "leave out" a function so important for millions of people as w+shift+space.  Because of this, I did not look for it in the reviews, and I foolishly bought this product. 

After my first board had a broken key relatively soon after I had purchased it, I called support and asked some questions.  The man on the line told me that logitech had removed the trait and that he would replace my broken keyboard for free.  Lo and behold, the function STILL does not work, and it frustrates me to no end while playing games such as Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2 and many more.  I was directly lied to by support, and cheated by a company that CLEARLY REMOVED (no other keyboard I've ever used has had this limitation) a function in order to sell their more expensive gaming line.

the keyboard is the Illuminated Keyboard, and I wish, if possible, for a replacement (with the G110).

Too bad I found out about this thread after I already bought that keyboard and had issues with W+Shift+Space.

Since I don't see any solution to this issue I'll try and learn to play my FPS' (Battlefield 3) with releasing the shift (sprint) before pushing space (jump). I'm not sure if I get the same effect as before if I release the shift tho.

It's still pretty stupid that Logitech did this and claim that it's working as intended because this is not a gaming keyboard. I've never had such a problem with any of my keyboards and I didn't even know (think of) that any keyboard out there could have this widely known key combination locked.

Any ideas or suggestions what should I do? I got a local Logitech support here. Am I elibigle to switch out my keyboard to something else or get my money back?

Dear mods et other Logitech employees monitoring this thread, I have a request for you:

This keyboard as well as its wireless K800 variant are pretty popular despite their price. I myself chose the K800 because it was one of the few Logitech keyboards that had standard 6-key Ins+Del+Home+End+PgUp+PgDn as well as being one of the most stylish keyboards in your portfolio. Damm, if it had a fingerprint reader as well, it'd be the perfect keyboard! Well, enough of intro.

The request, dear Logitech employees who are working for us here on these forums, is that you ask your designers to use a proper matrix in at least future versions. This keyboard is expensive enough to warrant higer quality parts. Please do that and just let us know with some non-committing hint that the decision will have been made.

Please, I'd very much like my next keyboard to be this model as well. Please, pretty please with cream and sugar on top!
