I'm alos one of those who bought myself an Illuminated after checking and concidering before buying.. Only to find out it wouldn't work with some in game key combos, especially the Shift+Ctrl+W which is a combo that sits in my spine.
To have had this issue with recent models of the Illuminated for quite some time, and not advertised this clearly to buyers, is pretty poor from Logitech.
This should have been corrected long ago; a model with the "good" matrix to replace the failing ones for customers with the gaming need. A little bit of effort Logitech is not willing to spend to us customers..
I ended up getting the G110 instead, but I'm not very happy with it. I should have returned it too, but it's a bit of a drive to the store and I then felt I'd just have to get used to it.
:-(

Whatever you guys claim to be the reason, i have never seen this W + Shift + Space Bar problem on any keyboard, cheap or expensive. I have been a loyal Logitech customer for years, not anymore.
I don't want your overly fancy gaming keyboards. I got this keyboard for three reasons: low profile keys (primary), simplistic layout (primary) and a brand name i thought was reputable (secondary), i was wrong on the last reason. I admit i did not do my due diligence before buying this keyboard today, minimal research was done. I saw that a go to brand had what i was looking for. Fired up my go to FPS after getting home, hey its spring break this week! Puzzled about why this combo wasn't working, i take to the net to find a solution, dig deeper into the reviews and see that this is standard with this keyboard and Logitech is aware and not willing to fix the issue. "its not for gaming" LOL, not good enough for me.
Whether it is a matrix problem or not, it sure "feels" like this was done intentionally to push gamers, casual or hardcore, to purchase your gaming keyboards. Ultimately, the reason for this key combination not working is irrelevant. It's your customers thoughts and feelings, and how they interpret your products' functionality, that matter.
This account was made today to simply give you my feedback, take it as you wish....

Hi everyone,
I just got the Illuminated (wired version).
Yeah, it's key-blocked alright, can't use SHIFT + W + SPACE, for example (are there any other key combos I can't use??).
BAAAD policy screwup on Logitech's part... even though, in general, I _REALLY_ like this 'board, and will use it exclusively now.
BUT:
I figured out a great workaround: First I have disabled the CapsLock-key - no, I've REMAPPED it to act as another SHIFT key - you can find a .reg file for Windumb which does that on the 'net easily enough.
Then I regonfigured my games to use said CapsLock key instead of the SHIFT key for running
- et voilá, small readjustment on my part AND a functioning and stylish gaming keyboard. :-)
Logitech, your customer friendliness and accomodation towards us users is really TOP of the line, but trying to get people to buy stuff they don't need or want by intentionally crippling your hardware - and NOT teling potential customers beforehand that they will buy a per-default-broken item! - is.. well, let's just say: Really low.
Luckily there are ways for workarounds, but.. ...well...
Regards & don't devalue your future products any more, please, I wanna STAY a loyal Logitech customer.

Really disappointed, Logitech.
I bought the Illuminated Keyboard today after trying it out on the shelf (due to key feel and classy look) only to find out when I got home that it sooo dumb it doesn't know how to comprehend 3 keystrokes at the same time w+shift+up. I will be returning it to the store tomorrow, probably for a $10 keyboard that can handle 20 keystrokes at once.
So disappointing...

Wow. This issue is absolutely ridiculous. I have never heard of any other keyboard having a ghosting issue with the W + Shift + Space bar, one of the most common key combinations. From the responses I've been reading from Logitech reps it does not seem like they are concerned with this issue. It seems the only solution for this problem is to return the keyboard and go with something else (not Logitech this time).

Not that common. I have never used that combination. I didn't know it was important to anyone until I read about it here.

design decision? for better keyboard typing? who ever you chose to make that "decision" was flawed in his choice of design. it doesnt say anything about keyboard combinations in any of the literature you provide. then to try and fob us off with "its not meant for gaming" well thats absurd and you know it. you must take us for fools, well i guess we are: we paid upwards of £50-£60 for this and it doesnt even work properly.
I've wasted my money on this bad decision of a keyboard and it wasnt even my fault.
not a gaming keyboard...good grief!

I disagree. If I see any hardware designed as "gaming" I avoid it. It means that it is not designed for my use, and has an elevated price.
If I wanted a keyboard for gaming I would go and look for one.
Please, Logitech, avoid this snivelling from people who did not do enough research. Leave my keyboard alone. It works properly here.

i avoided gaming hardware this time because i wanted something a bit smaller.
Please dont call me snivelling, you dont know me. i've paid £50 for a keyboard that does not do what every other keyboard i've had does. "researching" a keyboard, i thought i was getting basic functionality on a nice looking format. How can average joe blogs, plays a bit of gaming person, be expected to ensure that certain key combinations work or not? Dont you think thats just a little bit unreasonable? just a little? clearly from here on in, i'll make sure i do.
I'm having my rant, i think it's unfair and a bad design decision, thats my right.

I was about to buy this keyboard when I saw the warning comments on my favorite online shop. Wow, what an utterly retarded design decision. I always bought Logitech, but after I saw this I doubt I'll consider buying a Logitech product again. This really looks like some business suit tried to increase sales of these ridiculously designed gaming keyboards - congratulations, job well done.
Good bye
