Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

My issue is, I had no idea that the battery of this supposedly "battery less" keyboard used up every 6 months!
ist s-u-c-k-s! coz its exactly the same like other wireless keyboard that you have to buy a battery every 6 months!
Can't see any point why made is solar!!!

The worst is!!! I been to tons of stores everywhere and I can not find a replacement for that kind battery!!!!

AND THE TECH SUPPORT NECER REPLIES TO MY EMAIL!!!!!

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

I don't believe you should have to replace the battery every 6 months.  I think Logitech will replace the battery if it is within the warrante period, which it should be.  I've had my keyboard almost a year and it is still charging to 100% when in good light and the battery is still good.  If you contact tech support, I think they should help you.  (Not necessarily through this support group, however.) Can you give them a call?

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

Good advice, especially "Not necessarily through this support group".  Remember, this is a user-to-user forum, with only occasional input from Logitech's hired hands.

When I have invoked tech support – through the "Contact Us" link here – they have eventually proved to be helpful. I had a K800 keyboard break after about a year. (The enter key is flaky.) They quickly replaced it with a new one.

If the battery hasn't survived the warranty period, get bin touch with them.

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

I had the same problem as everyone. Even with my keyboard powered off, the battery would still die within a few days. Even putting it in direct sunlight for a few days, I couldn't get it tot charge. Or, if it did charge the charge would last about 30 seconds. I figured it was a defective battery.

I purchased a new rechargeable ML2032 battery from a seller on ebay. When I got the new battery, the keyboard showed 100% without even charging it up. The battery (with using the keyboard very sparingly and powering it off when not in use), it lasted 1 week and was dead. I put in the window and it got about 8 hours of direct sunlight. The charge got up to 75%.

What is the pont of a keyboard where I have to keep placing it in the window to charge it?? I'd much rather stick a couple of double AA batteries in it and change them once a year. My Logitec trackball next to the keyboard is used 100 times more than the keyboard and I am still on the same set of AA batteries that I put in 6 months ago and I never turn the trackball off.

I think there is a serious issue with the K750. I have begun my search for another keyboard. I purchased a K800 that comes with rechargeable AA batteries. Will give that a go and will toss the solar keyboard in the trash. It's a shame. I REALLY LOVE that keyboard!!

Er, it is a "solar powered" keyboard. It needs light to recharge its batteries. Where else do you plan to charge it up? Under the mains-powered light bulb?

The surprising thing to me is that people expect anything solar powered to work. It is just a marketing scam.

I have a "solar powered" radio. Even left on the bathroom window all day, it cannot charge enough to run for the limited time that it gets used. It needs a regular recharge. Fortunately, the makers had the foresight to include a charging socket so that I can plug it into the mains.

Maybe that is a cue for Logitech to do the same thing.

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

I've had my keyboard for a year and it is still charging fine on its original battery.  It was at 100% the last time I checked.  I do not turn it off when not in use and it is near a window, but I don't have to constantly keep it in the sun.  There must be a problem with some of the keyboards, but if you have the problem, you should contact support and see if they will send a new keyboard or battery.  They do have a good warranty.

I do think it is slightly misleading to call this a solar keyboard when it is really powered by a battery that is charged by light.  I understand, however, that without the battery, it could stop working when one is working at night or in a dark room.  It just seems that the primary power should be solar, with the battery just used as backup.

Good point. But isn't Logitech just falling in with the general sales pitch that markets everything with a "solar battery" as solar?

I can't think of anything "solar" that does not have a battery.

And "solar" is really an alternative to "light". Not really a great sales pitch.

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

I've bought my K750 (which i curenty am on) about 7 months ago. It's working flawlessly and i registered today to give a suggestion about this keyboard, but i've been stuned how many people have problems with it. I sure recomend a replacement as it seems Logitech has discovered that it "had" a flaw, but now i think they have repaired it.

Anyway, my suggestion is that K760 has to be matted (not shiny) front cover, like MacOS version. I havent seen it in public yet but, i would preffer it that way. This way it looks very ugly and smudges remain all over it.

Aluminum would be preffered, but i think that would bring the price up. So i think that K760 sholud look like this for a PC too :smileyhappy:

So please, do make some changes for the next keyboard and the crowd will be happy :smileyhappy:

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

You are correct.  My solar outdoor lights have a battery also and I'm sure roof panels are paired with batteries.   I guess that is the only way to capture the energy so that it can be used when the sun is down or there is not adequate light.

Re: Battery for K750 Solar Keyboard

I have the same problem with this keyboard.  I have used it without issues for about 4 months.  Now the battery is dead every day.  I have tried turning it off during the day, leaving it in the sun, etc.  I think there is some sort of design flaw, or Logitech is using a very suspect supplier for the batteries.

The lack of this part on Logitech's website, to the contrary of what it states, needs to be corrected.
