I have the MK710 keyboard/M705 mouse desktop, which I use on Windows 7 Professional x64.
With the Logitech LX500 keyboard that I had just prior to buying the above keyboard, when I pressed the Calculator button on the keyboard, the Windows calculator would appear and have focus. With the new Logitech keyboard - the MK710 - when I press the Calculator button, the Windows calculator appears and does not have focus. I have to click on its window bar to give it focus.
This is really annoying. With the LX500, all I had to do was press the Calculator button and I could immediately start entering numbers; now I have to stop my work to give the calculator focus.
How can I restore the old behavior, and give the Windows calculator focus as soon as I press the Calculator button on the keyboard?

I've noticed this too. You can reproduce this behaviour every time: -
If you have shortcuts for apps on the taskbar in Windows 7 and you have several apps open, you can switch between them by pressing the shortcut buttons on the taskbar. This makes the shortcut button of the app you've selected have a white-ish background. For example, here's my taskbar showing 3 open apps, and Opera web browser has the white-ish background: -
-
Once one of the shortcut buttons has that white-ish background, the calculator will always open in the background.
If you have several apps open again, but you click on a blank area of the taskbar, none of the shortcut icons for your open apps will have the white-ish background and then if you press the calculator button on the keyboard, it will open in the foreground as intended.
This is clearly a bug that needs to be sorted, as when the calculator is launched, it should be launched in a way that brings it into focus. If you use Windows 7, you'll be using the shortcut buttons on the taskbar all the time and therefore the calculator will always open in the background.

OK, so I've just found a fix for this.
Go into the SetPoint software and select the My Keyboard tab, then under Select Hot Key, choose Calculator and change the task to Launch Program, then browse to C:\Windows\System32 and select calc.exe as the program to be launched. The calc.exe application may be in a different place on a 64 bit version of Windows (I'm using 32 bit), but you can find it with a search.
This still launches the calculator, but it brings it into focus every time it's launched, even if another program has focus at the time. Hope that helps!

Unfortunately, that did not work for me. However, I was able to solve the problem by uninstalling Setpoint.
I've owned many Logitech products over the years, and I can always count on Setpoint to mess things up. I invariably uninstall it.

That worked PERFECTLY. I had the same problem with the Logitech Numpad. When you change the calculator from being set to "Default" to an explicit call to calc.exe as you specified, it works every time! Thanks!

@DJSigma Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! This was driving me nuts, but your solution took care of it.
It's just too bad Logitech's software doesn't work properly to begin with. :\

The above solution worked for me for a while but then reverted to the old problem.
I have found another solution for this problem. This will not make sense why it works but it just does.
You need to install Microsoft Intellitype. This is the software for Microsoft Keyboards.
32 bit
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7040
64 bit
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3086
I was having the media button issues with my K750 and zune software, as well as the calculator focus issues. I installed the Intellitype software on my system, and it fixed all the issues.
I'm not a programmer so I have no idea how or why this fixed the problems, but it does.
So select the download for your system. I know the Intellitype software is an older verson, but I can confirm that this solution works on both 32 and 64 bit versons. When prompted what microsoft keyboard you have, I selected the mulitmedia keyboard. I don't know if selecting a different keyboard will make a difference.
Once installed all your media keys should function correctly. I hope this helps other frustrated logitech keyboard owners.

Just posting to say I have the Illuminated K800, and whether I have any shortcut highlighted or not, the calculator still opens without focus. The current solution does work.
