    Re: Community Feedback Request (LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe)

I'm getting msg entitled "Backweb Error" with text "Cannot start Logitech Desktop Messenger. BWfiles.dll not found or invalid".

I'm running Windows 7 and Setpoint 4.8 on a PC I built myself. Previously, the PC ran Windows Vista with Setpoint 3.3a without any problem.

Originally, on Windows 7, I got a message something like "Desktop Messenger is incompatible with this version of Windows". There were options on how to proceed and I think I opted for "Do not show this screen again" but I can't be certain that was the option I chose.

Anyway, from then on I get the Backweb Error mentioned above each time I start up. I removed Setpoint 4.8 and re-installed it but I still get the annoying Backweb Error.

A search of my C-disk for BWfiles gets the following 2 hits :-

    BWfiles-8876480.dll in C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program

    and

    bwfiles.dll in C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\8.1.1.50-8876480SL\Program

Hope this helps you and hope you can help me.

If you need any more info, just ask.

    Re: Community Feedback Request (LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe)

I get a similar problem after installing SetPoint 4.8 on Windows 7 64 Bits. Translated from german to english, it says something like "This programm has a nown problem of compatibility". There is also a link: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/447/6042&cl=us,en, which is not working.

I contacted the support already but don't get any answer.

Is it possible to just deinstall the desktop messenger? I can't find this programm for download in the internet. Why?

    Re: Community Feedback Request (LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe)

New out of the box, the cordless wave pro keyboard and mouse work okay, but Set Point has no configuration tabs or utilities when installed on this Windows 7 64-bit machine.  No solutions anywhere on these forums, either.  Pretty poor presentation by Logitech here.

    Back to Microsoft.

    Re: Community Feedback Request (LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe)

I just emailed Logitech Support about the Logitech Desktop Messenger compatibility issue on my Windows 7 64-bit system. Here's the response I got verbatim:

"Thank you for contacting Logitech Customer Care Team.

As I understand, you see an error about the Logitech Desktop Manager during start up of your computer.

I would be glad to help you resolve the issue with your Logitech Product.

Please try to uninstall the Logitech Desktop Manager unsing the programs and features in control panel.

Should you not be able to locate the Logitech Desktop Manager from the programs and features, please follow the steps below:

I would suggest uninstalling Logitech Desktop Messenger using www.revouninstaller.com

Logitech Desktop Messenger is used to give customers notice of software updates. However, this can be done manually by periodically checking on our web site www.logitech.com."

In other words, Logitech hasn't figured out how to get their Desktop Messenger to play nice with Windows 7, so uninstall it and periodically check for updates on the Logitech website.

    Re: Community Feedback Request (cordless)

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate, warning occurred on restart after loading drivers for MX110 cordless mouse and keyboard. Now everytime I start up I get a warnig to check with logitech to see if  there is a solution.

    Regards
