I installed Windows 7 recently and when I get to the logon screen the keyboard doesn't initialize for 30 seconds or so before it will respond to any typing. I also had the problem with my microsoft mouse. I checked the device manager and there was some USB device that wasn't working, i have no clue what it was an uninstalled it. It came back up when I rebooted but the mouse works immediately. I put the bluetooth transceiver on all different USB ports with no response.
My BIOS recognizes the keyboard at startup so I'm not sure why windows is reinstalling the driver or something causing it to go offline for so long.
I never had this problem with XP and this keyboard.
Not sure if it has to due with this unknown USB device host controller.

Fixed....
Determined that USB host controller that wasn't working was my Seagate external USB drive. For some reason the dumb drive doesn't correctly disconnect (or windows doesn't correctly disconnect it) after several reboots and stops working until I repower the device. Apparently having this device not working jammed up my USB controllers. Ridiculous.
I love how Windows still doesn't know how to work with hardware at all, 20 years later.
