Keyboards and Keyboard/Mice Combo Sets

The DiNovo Edge keyboard has an extremely annoying issue which needs to be addressed -whenever you hit Caps Lock, the keyboard beeps. One tone for on, one slightly lower tone for off.This behaviour can't be turned off.

There is an option in setPoint which should enable/disable the beep. It doesn't work - the beeping remains.

Normally, I use a app launcher which hijacks the caps key, and so I didn't hear the beep for a couple of weeks. Whenever I turn off the util, the beeping comes back in full force - and even after a couple of minutes it's just horrible.

While I can imagine that there may some people out there that want a beepy caps key, I can't believe that it should be enabled by default. It's such an ugly machine-tone beep too! I mean, this keyboard is a rolls royce - any noise it makes should be a soothing, well modulated tone, not a loud and intrusive squawk.

Come on guys, it's one checkbox that doesn't work in the driver config. Please, fix it!

I have spoken with Logitech Techs and they assure me this is not an issue with setpoint.

They told me:

" ask him to check for settings in his computer desktop behaviour"

 " He can disabled the caps lock key "

I was told there is software  / appz that do this.'"

This is absolutely a hardware/driver problem. The beep comes from within the keyboard itself, it doesn't happen when I have the dinovo off and use only the laptop keyboard. When I use the laptop keyboard with the dinovo connected, hitting CAPS on the laptop causes the dinovo to beep!

As for the other points:

• No, I don't have any other setting/utility or any 'appz' that causes the beep. It's the keyboard, no doubt about it.
• I use the caps lock key - disabling it isn't a solution.

So obviously, Logitech are aware of this fault with the driver/hardware. My question is, as always - how do we fix it? I'm just not satisfied with "it can't be turned off".

Can you imagine using a keyboard with a 'beepy key' that you can't turn off? Can't you see how annoying that is, especially when you've paid for what is otherwise the finest (and one of the most expensive) keyboards on the market?

So, it's been two years since I started hunting for a way to turn this horrible caps-lock beeping sound off. My keyboard is still rock-solid, and I love using it, but I have had to entirely disable the caps-lock key in order to keep using it.

Now, however, a new piece of software I use for work requires the caps-lock key - meaning that the beep which I had almost forgotten is back, and as terrible as ever.

So, a couple of questions:

• Are we any closer to a fix? Is anyone still spending time on these issues?
• If not, could you please help by providing a step-by-step on how to open the keyboard and physically disable the speaker component? I can probably work this one out myself, but I don't want to mess anything up.

I've posted to logitech's get satisfaction page (http://getsatisfaction.com/logitech), and responded to their tweet (twitter.com/logitech) to hit the forums if you need help with a product.

Can you guess what kind of a reponse I got?

What is happening? I still have not had any response at all from any channel I've used - even after Logitech prompt people via twitter to get in touch with them.

Here are two questions. I imagine it would take a Logitech employee about 2 minutes to answer the first, and maybe 15-20 minutes to provide a detailed answer for the second. 25 minutes of your time, and I'll at least be satisfied.

I fully agree with all previous posts. This situation is NOT acceptable.

Besides the fact that the beep troubles me; I cannot impose it on the 2 other persons that I share an office with!

Has anyone tried neutreulizing the sound device with a magnet?

I too was irritated by the inability to turn off obnoxious warnings on my MX5500 keyboard in SetPoint.  I finally decided to try updating SetPoint to see if it had been fixed.  Went to the "Tools" tab clicked on the second vertical tab to get the software update options and noticed there are additional status indicator check boxes buried here!  It turns out, with my MX5500 at least, the check box under the "My Keyboard" tab and the third vertical tab on the left side controls the beep from the keyboard itself while the checkboxes under the "Tools" tab and the second vertical tab on the left side control the beep and visual indicators displayed/sounded on the computer itself.  It was these second ones that were really obnoxious.  I don't know why the controls for this second set of indicators was buried but they solved my problem.  Hope it helps someone else.

I've just got this keyboard and have found that the option to disable the beep in the settings is not working. This is infuriating as I use CAD and toggle the caps lock key on and off constantly.

Has anyone had any joy disasembling the keyboard and removing the speaker?
