Hi
,
The switching between freespin and click to click scroll modes is software controlled. Please check if SmartShift is enabled. If it is, please try adjusting the speed at which the wheel shifts scroll modes; if it is set to too slow a speed the wheel while go into freespin mode nearly everytime it is moved.

Hi
,
Setting it to 'Pressing Wheel Shifts Scroll Modes' will allow for manually changing scroll modes without it changing automatically.

I have the same problem, it worked well on Vista x64, but after I switched to Windows 7,
the middle scroll wheel are always in "free spin" mode and it refused to go to "click" mode even if I disabled the "smartshift" and set it to "always click".
so I have no click mode under Win7 x64, setpoint 4.8.
I think it's a driver issue.

Same problem but none of the solutions work; wheel will not shift out of free wheel mode.

Same here, but the problem is limited to Internet Explorer. As soon as I change windows to IE8, the scroll wheel switches to free spin mode. Changing back to any other window (eg Firefox) returns function to normal. The problem only occurs for me in IE8, and occurs irrespective of the web page.
That would suggest that it's not a setting that can be changed, rather it would appear to be a driver issue.

I hate to drum up old topics but has anyone found a solution to this? Workaround? Driver update? I just got this combo and really want the click to click to work.

Hello henesnarfel,
Click scroll wheel to shift between modes or deactivate Logitech SmartShift with in the SetPoint software . If SmartShift is activated SmartShift will automatically detect and apply the scrolling mode that fits best .
