I recently bought the MX 5500 Revolution and when I plug in the USB bluetooth dongle, my computer recognizes it and then crashes. I took it to a friend's place (who also has the same set) and it worked fine on his computer. It is updated to the latest firmware (as it updated on his computer) and my setpoint is also updated. I have also reinstalled windows XP and it still did the same thing. I then tried to install windows 7 and it kept crashing my install when I had it plugged in. When I installed it using my old S510, it worked. I then plugged in the USB dongle and it caused windows 7 to crash. Everything works when I use my old S510 set, but when I plug in the USB bluetooth dongle for the MX 5500 revolution, it crashes my computer. I've even tried returning the set and buying a new one and the same problem happens.
I somehow got it to work for a few hours on XP, but I was ever able to restart with the USB bluetooth dongle plugged in. If I tried restarting with the dongle plugged in, it crashed on the windows loading screen. When I removed the dongle, everything works perfectly.
My system is:
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4
Processor: Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor 2.2 GHz
Ram: Corsair XMS2 (i've tried running it with 2x512MB sticks and 2x2GB sticks)
Video card: Geforce 7300 GS
Hard drive: Western Digital Raptor (not sure on the model number)
I have tried running the system with a Radeon HD 4850 graphics card and go the same crashing problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I was able to start my computer with the USB dongle plugged in and used my old keyboard to uninstall and reinstall the drives for the dongle. The MX 5500 now works. The only problem is that if I remove the USB dongle while the computer is on, it crashes. Any thoughts on why it would do this?
