Logitech's new keyboard layouts really suck

I'm well aware that in all likelihood, Logitech doesn't care, but I'm going to post this anyway on the off chance that it gets some attention. I do understand that Logitech is trying to find new, more comfortable keyboard layouts, and I appreciate that, but the ones they've been putting out lately are just getting out of hand.

Let's take a look at the Wave keyboard, and this applies to every other keyboard Logitech seems to be selling today. They've converted the Insert/Home/etc column into a 2x3 design instead of a 3x2. They've completely REMOVED scroll lock as far as I can tell, replacing it with the insert key so that they could make the delete key twice as tall (did we not know where it was before?) I happen to use scroll lock every day in several programs, so this is a big strike against it for me. And let's not forget that the right Windows key and context menu button have been completely removed in favour of a Function button that most people will probably use three times in their entire life. Logitech seems to know that this is a poor design choice as well, as the G15 keeps the regular keyboard layout intact. Their basic model does too, but as it's a basic model, it lacks any media keys (I like to have VolUp, VolDown and Mute).

What I'm looking for is a keyboard with the standard layout, with a double-wide backspace key, a half-height enter key and a wide backslash/bar key above the enter key, with VolUp, VolDown and Mute keys. I used to have one that was wonderful, but it's recently died. I've always gone for Logitech's products and still use my MX1000 as well as an old MX500 that I bought years ago, but if these poor design choices keep up, I'll have to stop buying their products entirely.

Re: Logitech's new keyboard layouts really suck

I agree with the missing scroll lock and oversized delete key. I'll add some more:

I intended to use a dinovo edge to do software programming but the keyboard layout is just too poor. Especially that the dinovo edge is supposed to be for power users, I don't know what the designers where thinking about.

The biggest pet peeve is the missing "AppKey", the one on the right of the space bar. I use it often (on my other keyboards) and this really pisses me off that it is unavailable. At least if I could simulate this key with a Fn+orange key, it would have made me happier.

If any logitech support guy is listening, please send a message to the engineering departement to make a bios update available to make a key combinaison simulate the "application" key.

Thanks

Re: Logitech's new keyboard layouts really suck

COULD NOT AGREE MORE!

Logitech's decision to remove the context-menu key is a deal breaker for me. I can live without the scroll lock and dislike what they've done with the home and end keys as well as really dislike the function key grouping, but I could get use to that.  I cannot work as efficiently without the context-menu.  It means I don't have to grab the mouse which saves time, this new Wave Logitech keyboard feels nice but I'm appauled logitech removed the context-key.  So stupid.  They've done this to pretty much all of their keyboards.

In the off-chance someone from Logitech A) looks at this and B) actually cares, I (like many others) will not buy your keyboard until you put the **bleep** context-menu key back.  I'd rather use a $7 keyboard.
