I have owned the MK710 combo (MK705 mouse) for about a week now. Yesterday, I replaced my old mouse pad with a new one. This one has printing/images on it. The mouse tracked normally for about 12 hours. Now, it won't track at all on that pad. Seems to work normally on a pad of white paper. There doesn't appear to be any dust or anything on the optical components.
The pad is darker in color ... and I would understand if it didn't want to track from the beginning, but to work fine for awhile, and then decide it doesn't like the surface anymore ... very perplexing. The failure started as "hangups" as I moved the mouse, now it won't track at all (it progressively got worse)
This makes me worry that there is something failing on the mouse (perhaps the laser can't produce a high enough signal?). Setpoint claims the batteries are full.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
Update: I tried new batteries, just for grins. Still won't track on that pad.

Ah to heck with it ... I took the whole thing back to Office Depot and replaced with new. Works fine (on the dark, printed mouse pad) with same batteries.
We'll see how long it lasts.
