MX5500 LCD text is Gibberish

I purchased one MX5500 set and was using it for a number of weeks and loved it so much I purchased another one to keep at home.

Everything was working fine until recently when suddenly all the text on the LCD screen turned into gibberish

each character looks like this:

>

n

-

I thought it may be a low battery level so I tried replacing them. I left the batteries out of the keyboard for a few minutes. I deleted the connection to my PC and resynced.

Nothing seems to fix it.

Has anyone seen this problem and knows how to fix it I would be forever grateful.

Re: MX5500 LCD text is Gibberish

Hello robparmenter,

Try a clean boot installation:

Uninstall SetPoint.

Accessing the System Configuration Utility

Click Start type msconfig in the search box and press Enter

Configure Selective Startup options

  • On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
  • Uncheck Load Startup Items
  • Select the Services tab
  • Check  Hide all Microsoft services
  • Click  Disable all
  • Click on OK
  • Click  Restart.

Reinstall SetPoint from MX 5500

After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    • Click Start type msconfig in the search box and press Enter
    • On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    • Click Ok
    • Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Vanessa
