MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

This is the second MX5500 i've gone through and is still happening. First one I had to exchange it at the nearest Future Shop. Prior to buying my first MX5500, the retailer told me that there are many defective ones going around and insisted me to buy a 3 year warranty, which I did that luckily got me another in two years of suffering with this reconnecting issue.

Anyways, the problem is that my mouse occassionally reconnects. I know it's reconnecting because whenever the mouse cursor stops moving, I can see the battery indicator on the mouse light up just like if I manual connect the mouse with the USB connector.

Another problem is that sometimes my left click/right click/or both would stop working but I can still move my mouse.I have to turn the mouse off and on to get it to work again.

This is very very fustrating, almost wanna trash this **bleep** mouse.

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Pelase check there are any sources of interference  in the area around the mouse and receiver. If its possible, please also try using the mouse with a different computer to verify if it is a hardware problem.

There is no source of interference around and it is still happening from the time I started this thread.

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

Our company has purchase 4 of these mice (mouses) and all are experiencing the same issue.

About once ever 1 or 2 hours the mouse just completely stops working for about 30-60 seconds.

I aggree VERY frustrating...enough for use to stop using these things and not order the MX5500 combo again.

Please help fix this issue....

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

[ Edited ]

This has been an issue for quite a considerable time now, and the answers to help with this problem are a complete waste of time, I have been emailing Logitech Australia, and have never seen a responce, I have placed in this forum questions on this and have never had an answer, so I have decided that this is going to be my last attempt at getting any

type of responce, I have had it up to my neck with Logitech, I have actually Fixed the curser freezing, quite easy really, you just remove Setpoint complete from your computer, The Keyboard and mouse will still work OK, BUT you wont have any personal settings, when after you remove the setpoint software just use the search engine built into windows, and remove all setpoint files, dont forget to do a sys restore first, and if restore does not work for you, use Sys restore  in safe mode,

If anyone has a feedback or any help please use this forum or my email  (edit out personal information) :smileysad:

all the problems are in the software, and nobody gives a hoot < being polite

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

I have been using the MX5500 set for almost three years now. I have two different sets and i have never encountered any problems at all with them...

Until recently. All of a sudden the mouse starts "freezing" and i have to powercycle it with the power switch under it. I associate the rise of this new problem with the installation of a new SetPoint version that i was stupid enough to do even though the old one worked fine... Anyone having the same experience?

Recently had a G930 which I returned for a refund due to the crappiest software ever... Nedless to way i won't be buying anything more with the Logitech brand on it...

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

Our company purchased 3 of these and all do the same thing.

Side note it is only the mouse that stops working for about 30 seconds keyboard still works (I purchased a mouse/keyboard combo).

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED...Someone at Logitec PLEASE REPLY.

I've fixed this in the past (just don't remember how)...I rebuild my system and the issue came back. THERE IS A FIX OUT THERE.

If I find again I will post.

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

Hello SirOssis,

Please provide a few more details . What is your operating system? What version of SetPoint are you using if any ? Are you using a Bluetooth dongle/receiver or internal Bluetooth ?

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

Hi, I'm facing the same problems now and then (at least once a day), the mouse stops responding for 30-60sec.

I have this mouse hooked up to a HP notebook using a external Bluetooth received less than 50cm away from the mouse.

I'm using my mouse during my daily work and when it works it's a great mouse.

Hope my feedback can help your research and solved the issue.

thank you

Re: MX5500 mouse occasionally reconnects/stops working

I am using a Dell E6520 with internal bluetooth.

We have several other systems all Dell E5520, E6500, XP1500 all with the same freezing all with MX5500....

I have fixed this before in the past with a solution I found on Google.....just don't remember where or what it was.
