MX5500 sleep mode issue

I have the MX5500 mouse/keyboard combo on a Win7 PROF 64 bit PC.  Everytime the PC awakes from sleep mode, I have to unplug receiver and plug back in again to get both the keyboard and mouse to work.  I called customer support with NO reasonable help.  They wanted me to remove my sealed battery...how I don't know!  Anyone else have this issue and figure out a solution?

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

I have maybe related issues. almost everytime the computer wakes up from sleep my custom settings not loaded, until I restart setpoint (currently 6.0, but I had this issue with earlier versions, too)

I wrote a script to kill & start setpoint upon waking up, but it's not very nice (also leaves a ghost setpoint icon on the system tray) and it takes some time till it starts and recognizes the mouse and a keyboard.

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

I have the same problem with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit. When waking up computer from sleep using the keyboard, the keyboard would then say not connected and the mouse would start flashing and would not connect. I would have to re-synch all devices every time by going to the receiver and pressing the button on it. It is really annoying. Is there a fix for this? Love Logitech keyboard and mouse. Xpender666

Hello,

This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

The Basic Input/output System (BIOS) system that is installed on the computer reduces power to the port to which the input device is connected.

Note You may be unable to use Bluetooth devices to resume operation from certain power management states (such as "suspend" or "hibernate"). In some low-power states, the wireless receiver may be unable to receive information from the Bluetooth devices.
You are using a portable or notebook computer that does not allow resume by using a Bluetooth device. If you are   having problems waking a laptop by using a Bluetooth device.
The Keyboard item in Control Panel is not configured to wake the computer when you press a key on the keyboard.
Your computer may have encountered a system problem.
The Sleep key on your keyboard is configured incorrectly.
Verify that your device is allowed to wake the computer

To resolve this issue , follow these steps:

Open the Keyboard control panel item.
Click the Hardware tab, and then click Properties.
Click the Change Settings button

Note This step requires Administrator access
Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the Allow this device to wake the computer is enabled.
Click OK, and then click OK again.
Note If your computer does not support Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI), the earlier steps may not be available. In this case, you have press the power button to wake the computer. If you cannot resume computer operation by using any of these methods, you may have experienced a system problem.

For information about how your system resumes operation, see the documentation that accompanied your computer or contact the computer manufacturer. For information about Microsoft Windows Power Management settings, see Microsoft Windows Help.

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

Responding to all the issues and posts that people have been having for the past few years with the Logitech MX 5500 (mx5500) Keyboard & Mouse failing to work after the computer wakes from sleep or hibernation mode.

Known work-arounds for this issue were to reconnect the USB receiver or wake the computer from sleep mode using the power button instead of the mouse.

Ok Logitech. This ball is back in your court!!! The copy and paste answers that are all over these forums from you guys are not helping. You will have to accept the fact that your driver and/or software is flawed and you will need to get your software guys to look at this problem.

Pay attention to this clue: If the customer should uninstall the Logitech SetPoint software (original from the CD, downloaded version, or updated version) then the problem WILL be solved.

I spent the better part of 6 hours troubleshooting all possible points of failure and have concluded that the error is with the provided software. This issue is NOT with the BIOS, internal computer hardware, incompatibilities with external devices, 3rd party software, or Operating System. I have been able to rule out all possible combinations of these.

Logitech, please respond with a non-cut & paste solution or forward this information to a senior representative. What is your plan of action to correct the flaw in the software.

This is exactly my problem. I have tried different troubleshooting procedures and yet I haven't found a solution  yet. I even went back to the store and had my Combo-K/M replaced to rule out if it was a defective hardware and to no avail. I keep having the same exact problem. I have called Logitech several times yet they don't seem to know the answer either or they are instructed not to as it would be as accepting they are the problem which actually they are. It's either their software or hardware that is defective. I will continue to testing out for the next few days and if no resolution I am taking this thing back to get my money; I bought the product about a week ago.

Taking this matter very seriously from Logitech end is something I am waiting to see!

Currently looking for the fine print.. If it is not, then there must be something that releases Logitech from liability for the software that they ship with their products. Clearly, plenty of people have been able to prove where the problem is originating. Legally, Logitech is obligated to provide a solution to its customers whish has yet to be done. Logitech has sold a product with a flaw and, like a thief, places blame on anyone and anything other than themselves.

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

WARNING!!!! BE CAUTIONED BEFORE PURCHASE.

Same issue - lack of Logitech resolution.

This was a new install of Win7Pro64bit on a ASRock Z68 Extreme4 motherboard.

The keyboard will power up the computer from sleep/suspend.  But when Windows starts, the mouse & keyboard disconnect.

It doesn't happen every time but seems to be consistent if the Windows power scheme "Balanced mode" puts the computer to sleep.  The balanced mode is set to Hybrid sleep.

It doesn't matter if SetPoint is installed or not.  If Windows sleeps the computer, I have to reconnect the kyb/mouse.  If I put the computer to sleep with the Logitech keyboard sleep button - they usually stay connected.  I've opened a support case and followed their instructions.  The final Logitech response was that it is the computer manufacturer's issue.

I don't think that I would have purchased this desktop knowing these issues.  Too bad it took so long for me to discover this - Amazon won't take the product back.

Very disappointed because I've had real positive use from my other Logitech products like the V470 cordless mouse for my laptop & my Z623 speakers.

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

Don't know if this will help anyone else, but I found moving the receiver to different USB ports on my system helped (fixed?) this. I have USB 3.0 ports on my system, and apparently the USB 2.0 ports are chained off of the USB 3.0 ports. The receiver doesn't need a USB 3.0 port, but I have plenty to go around, so I plugged into one of those and I haven't had the problem since.

Re: MX5500 sleep mode issue

[ Edited ]

I recently bought this product and I have been experiencing this sleep issue.

I did all the above suggestions but the issue did not go away for me.

I did an extra step in addition to the above and my issue has been resolved.

I think I have found a solution:

- I went to Control Panel,

- I went to Power Options (Found under Hardware and Sound Category; I then went to "Change Power-Saving Settings").

- I then clicked on "Change plan Settings"  for my "Balanced (recommended)" plan (I would later do this for all other plans)

- I then clicked on "Change advanced power settings"

- I scrolled down and expanded "USB settings"; I then expanded "USB selective suspend setting"

- I disabled this.

- Click OK, etc.

I put my computer to sleep.

I started clicking and moving the moving the mouse.... Nothing. It would not wake up.

I woke the computer up via the power button.

I started clicking and moving the moving the mouse.... It worked.

So no more disconnected bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Because I think now all of your USB ports have enough power going to your connected devices after the computer wakes up (which was not the case before). When your computer is sleeping the bluetooth receiver still doesn't appear to have enough power to work (well that's what I think).

Let me know if it still doesn't work for you (because I did other stuff; including the previous suggestions).

But try this step first.

My OS: Windows 8 Pro (64 Bit)
