Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

Hello. I have a problem with my Wireless Touch Keyboard. It's a K400 FCC ID:JNZYR0019, IC:4418A-YR0019.

I can't get the Unifying Software to work. I tried to download the software direct from this site, and i'm using Windows 7, but when I get to the download link, it doesnt do anything. It won't let me click either download link at all. My cursor highlights over the link, so it acknowledges it, but I can't download it. So, I tried the alternative. I downloaded an earlier version of the software from CNET, but it doesnt work. The link is http://download.cnet.com/Logitech-Unifying-Software/3000-2094_4-10969904.html

I just purchased this item new just a couple of days ago, but nothing I do works. If anyone can help please, I would appreciate it so much. I'm looking forward to using this product.

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

Are you using Internet Explorer 9?

For some baffling reason, it appears that downloads from the site sometimes won't work with that browser.

Not sure that this will fix your problem if you already have the unifying software and it won't work.

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

Yes I am using E9, although I was able you find the up to date Unifying Software, and even now it doesn't work. I can start the software just fine, but when I get the second page where it says to plug in one Unifying reciever I do, but nothing happens. My computer makes the noise indicating that I inserted a USB, but i've waited close to an hour, and it still doesn't show up. I've also tired other ways like plugging in the reciever while the keyboard is turned off, and again with it on.

I really don't know what else to do.

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

Do you have other USB ports that you can try?

Windows likes to install software and drivers for every port on an individual basis.

It can also help to put the receiver into a port that is a part of the computer itself rather than one on a hub or an add-in card.

When you have plugged in the receiver, have you also run the unifying software. You don't say.

Just having the software on your PC isn't good enough. You need to launch it and go through the steps it throws up.

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

I am using my Sony VAIO Laptop. It has 4 USB ports. I've tried using them all, and I have been trying to use the step by step instalation of the Unifying Software, but it never detects my Unifying reciever. I'm always stuck on the second step where it say plug in one Unifying reciever (then wait a few seconds until the "Next" button is available.) but it always says there is no Unifying reciever plugged into my computer. That's what I mentioned earlier when I said I would wait for almost an hour, but the "Next" button is never available.

Hello Paradox422,

The Unifying software is only used for pairing an additional device to the receiver or pairing a device to a replacement receiver. Your Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 should be paired with the receiver that it was packaged with. From the description of your issue it seems that you may have an issue with the Unifying receiver being detected on your computer. To determine if the issue is indeed the receiver, please test it on a different computer.

You could try the suggestion that worked for someone else:

I suspect that the beer is optional.

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

I got it to work! The problem was that there was a program on my computer that wouldn't allow it to successfully instal, so I had to uninstall it from my computer and restart my computer in Safe Mode with Networking. I installed it then, and now it works! I'm using it to send this post now! :smileyhappy:

I want to thank MichaelKenward, and Cintech for helping me with useful info. I don't think I will need the Unifying Software for now, but when I do, I'll know how you run it successfully thank to the both of you. Thank You! :smileyhappy:

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

Good news.

Can you let people into the secret as to what software was blocking you from installing the Unifying Software?

It might help others in the same boat in future.

One thought for Logitech, why not write a version of the Unifying Software that does not require installation and that users can run from a USB stick?

Re: Problem with Wireless Touch Keyboard K400

I would gladly let everyone know. Unfortunately I don't know what program it was blocking me. All I know is whatever program was blocking me, it doesn't run in safe mode.
