Scroll lock

Well, scroll lock has some uses for example:
"On spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel, it locks the cell pointer on the current cell, allowing the user to use the arrow keys to move the view window around without moving the cell pointer."
Also I disagree that scroll lock is a "feature" it is part of the "84-key" standard keyboard set and above, but in this keyboard the button is missing.
My question is are you planning to release a firmware upgrade that will provide this key or not?

Re: Scroll lock

Which keyboard model are you referring to?

If it uses SetPoint, you can install uberOptions and set a programmable button to "Keys:smileyfrustrated:croll Lock"

Re: Scroll lock

I use a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110.
1. Thanks for the software but a software remapping of the scancode will not work, I need for the keyboard to transmit the scancode of the scroll lock key.
2. Also in order to switch a KVM between PCs I need the scroll lock key.
3. I am not sure how well the software works and exactly what it does and also I doubt that it works in Linux.
4. The only way I see it working is by fixing the issue with a firmware upgrade of the keyboard which will cause a key to transmit the correct scancode or a recall of all those keyboards.

Good points.
1. I think some KVM's sense the Scroll Lock status, which this would send. And, I was offering this mostly as a solution to the Excel usage you mentioned.
2. If both PCs were running Windows with SetPoint and uberOptions, I think this would work.
3. It only works with the SetPoint driver, so no Linux support.
4. Good point.

Re: Scroll lock

1. My KVM requires the keyboard to transmit the scancode.
2. Unfortunately Linux support is a must (as well as being standard compliant)
3. I could probably take an AVR add a few components and create something that will change the scancode of a key to the scroll lock scancode but it will take some components, won't look so good, will take time to design & develop and I don't see a reason why I should build this in order to fix the keyboard.
4. What I was hoping for is an answer from Logitech saying that they are going to fix it, but apparently I am not getting it.
5. For me, using a the scroll lock key is as important as using the enter key for others.
6. Because of the way I am being ignored by Logitech I would not recommend buying it, I would have tried to go and ask for a refund but unfortunately there is no satisfaction guarantee where I am from, so I think that I will put it in the trash.

Re: Scroll lock

Well, what can I say besides being extremely annoyed at Logitech.
:-) Well apparently I can say a few things:
Could Logitech provide me with a schematic of the keyboard / receiver and details about the architecture of the controllers there and maybe a sample of a firmware because I wish to try and update the firmware to a firmware that can transmit a scroll lock scan code?

If not I guess I will have to wait for the Optimus keyboard, which according to the publications will be a keyboard that I will be able to tell it what to do and what each button does instead of being to be forced to use the design of a certain company, which in my opinion besides being non-standard is also defective.

I have to say one more thing regarding the support for the products, about one month has passed since I started this thread and still I haven't received any support from the Logitech's support personal despite having bought the product.

I am still waiting to hear from you, hopefully sometime soon.

It's now April and apparently there is STILL no 'official' response to not having a scroll-lock key on a keyboard. If you do something wrong, all you have to do is just ignore it and hope fervantly that people will just forget about it.

I've been a long term Logitech fan.  It's been pushed with all the problems I've had with the MX5000, MX3000, and MX3200.  I just received an EX110 to use in our server room.  Guess what?  It's missing a standard key that has been on nearly every keyboard since the start of computing.  Did I check beforehand?  No, but then again, do you check that new car you're thinking about buying to be sure it has a fuel tank larger than 2 gallons?

I run an IT department that is responsible for a lot of desktops.  The EX110 is our last Logitech purchase.

Logitech - WAKE UP!  Your idiot design decisions and poor software quality is costing you customers and sales.

Can anyone suggest a non Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combination that has a scroll lock key?  non ergonomic.

Re: Scroll lock

Just want to share my finding, and hopefully it helps others.
I have a Cordless Desktop model and was disappointed by losing the scroll lock key for KVM. However, I just found out that the "ctrl" key has the same functionality as "scroll lock" for switching my 2-port KVM.
