Hey folks,
well, I bought the MK250 combo set a few days ago.
Whatever I do, there's no possibility to get SetPoint installed properly. The mouse and the keyboard tab won't show when I start the SetPoint software, and I've already did all the troubleshooting stuff that could be found in the WWW.
I did:
1) Uninstall/restart/reinstall
2) Reinstall/restart/reinstall
3) try the thing with the wdf01000.sys file as
4) delete the LogiShrd folders
5) delete registry entries
6) try another USB port
7) check for old orphaned drivers of the previous mouse/kbd sets and removed them
8) install older versions after removing the newer ones
9) try older stuff like mouseware and the connector etc.
10) try to install the drivers manually (which resulted in not being able to install it due to an error, so the problem seems to be THERE.)
34) shout swear words from the balcony
823) throw things across the living room
1132) bite the desk
10³+27²) fry eggs on my head
If there's any double posting now, I'm very sorry, but everything I've found was stuff that did NOT work for me.
I have WinXP SP3, Mainboard ASUS P5KPL-AM (which may possibly be relevant concerning compatibility?), I use Antivir 9 and Sygate Personal Firewall, A Laser printer and an all-in-one printer/scanner is also connected via USB (which I won't remove to make a mouse/keyboard set run, haha)
Many people seem to have this problem with the SetPoint software. Well, I wonder why Logitech isn't able to program a properly functioning driver software.
So, what can I do except abstaining from using Logitech software for this set and/or returning the MK250 to my local dealer?
Sorry, but I'm a bit annoyed. Well... "wireless comfort in just a few seconds" (sorry for this bad translation, it's just printed in German and French on the box, haha) ... i'd like to HAVE this comfort. ![]()

Oh, I had a reply from the tech support a few hrs ago. Well. They told me to disable the services and startup programs via msconfig and reinstall it after restarting, then enable all the services and startups again. This didn't work as well, neither as a regular non-restricted user nor with administrator privileges.
Well, the USB dongle and the two devices do communicate with each other, but how come that the devices can't be detected? Hmm...
I hope that a solution will be found, otherwise I think I will return the MK250 set to my local dealer a.s.a.p. and buy a different ms/kbd combo. I must say that I NEVER had any problems with installing all the other manufacturers' combos, neither hama nor microsoft, neither labtec nor whatever.
Hmph...

Oh boy...
after days of communication with the Logitech support that guy from Logitech told me that SetPoint isn't meant to be made for e.g. my MK250 and the combo works with the simple windows drivers. Aha. Okay. Well.
So, no configuration of the multimedia key settings, the only thing I can do is change the default applications for file types. So, no indication of whether the Caps, the Scr or the Num Lock key is activated or not. So, the mute function works fine in Windows but NOT in in-game screens? So, the NEWEST SetPoint is NOT able to tell me that it does NOT work with my MK250? Sorry to say that, but: Lousy work.
I'm gonna return this combo to the store tomorrow and get some input devices by other manufactures that have been reliable through all the years.
All right... this topic can be closed then...
