Keyboards and Keyboard/Mice Combo Sets

Having a problem where the set-point software being open disables the usage of the multi-media keys (i.e. play/pause; stop; forward; backward; but NOT volume or mute) from being used.

When the set-point software is closed the keys begin to work fine again with no added changes.  I am attempting to stop and start Foobar2000 v1.1 Beta 2.  Problem did not occur on Windows 7 machine until AFTER I installed a recently purchased G13 and its corresponding software package.  

Have had this problem before without the G13 on a Win XP 32-bit machine which leads me to believe the G13 sparked the non-G13 related symptom of mis functioning multi-media keys.
