Keyboards and Keyboard/Mice Combo Sets

I would like to use the wireless dongle that came with one of my Logitech combo (keyboard/Mouse) kits, with my Logitech WAVE Pro Combo Kit, the WAVE dongle sticks out to far on my laptop.  Does anyone know of a way to get them to communicate together?

I know you're going to hate this answer, but I suspect it may hold true:

AFAIK the only Logitech wireless dongle that works with any supporting product is the Unifying receiver. Since your combo does not use this receiver, you are out of luck. I believe the older dongles were pre configured to one product type only.
