Hi,
recently installed my DiNovo keyboard and mouse and SetPoint 4.7
I can use them, program them the way I want.
The only really stupid thing is that each time I turn my machine on, it tells me it has found new hardware and looks for drivers he doesn't find.
Ending up on a message telling me that the hardware could not be installed. Even if I provide them.
Once for the mouse, and twice for the keyboard.
"There was a problem installing this hardware: Logitech HID-compliant Cordless Mouse. An error occured during the installation of the device. Fatal error during installation" and then, no choise but to click on Finish.
Same with "Logitech HID-compliant keyboard".
If I go to the Device Manager, I can see 4 keyboards:
- HID Keyboard Device
- HID Keyboard Device
- Standard 1001/102 key Keyboard (the built in one)
- Unknown device
Each of them are marked as working properly but totally enable to tell me whose drivers they use.
Same for the mouse:
- Unknown Device
- Unknown Device
Any way to have XP Pro SP3 stop nagging me with those stupid messages?
I tried to fully uninstall everything and then reinstall, still, no success
Even uninstalling the keyboards from the device manager.
Thanks for any help.

Have you tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them after rebooting your computer? That might work for you. Try to follow the instruction for installation exactly. Sometimes I miss a step and it comes back and bites me in the butt and causes so many problems.
Hope this helps, Lee

Yes of course I fully uninstalled everything,
disconnected all keyboard/mice and USB receiver.
Cleaned up the Regsitry from all traces.
Still, once I plug them back to the PC, after having installed the
SetPoint software, XP tells me it detects new hardware and asks
for drivers that it doesn't find. Even if I point to them, it tells
me that the drivers are not compatible and the installation failed.
It does ask for drivers at each boot. This is very frustrating.

The only suggestion that I have is to try going to Device Manager and right clicking on the mouse or keyboard. Click on Properties and then Driver. Does it say that Logitech or Microsoft is the Driver Provider?
If it says Microsoft, then try to click on the Update Driver and follow the prompts there. I hope this helps you out.
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

Might be worth a look at this thread. Slightly different problem, but relative to drivers and USB !

Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately, didn't help.
I do have the USB.INF file on my system.
I downloaded it anyway and made a compare, the two files are identical.

Hi there,
Last week my motherbord broke down, after a change a quick repair of XP SP3 I noticed the same behaviour.
Just as your other client, I TRIED all reasonable things...
even removing all keyboard and mouse drivers, then rebooting in safe mode and tryin to install there..I always have a screen that the driver installation failed and the next reboot the same Found new software question is there.
Ignoring the question doesn't help
reacting to yhe question doesn't help neither...
please help
