ultrabook unifying receiver connection problem

I recently upgraded from a Windows7 laptop to a Windows 8 ultrabook (Sony Vaio SVP112A1CL).  I installed Logitech's Unifying Receiver software.  When I plug the receiver in to the USB port, nothing happens.  I'm told that the receiver wasn't found.

This computer has USB 3.0 inputs only.

Re: ultrabook unifying receiver connection problem

I sometimes wonder if you guys actually read the problem or just send canned messages. Because if you're going to send canned messages and direct people to call or email you, then why have a forum and waste time?

i have the same issue but on a mac. all ports are usb3.0 therefore what you sent us doesn't apply to us. what now? call or email? meaning we just wasted precious time of ours for ingenious customer service? or will you actually care and try to help resolve the issue?

thanks.

This place is essentially a user-to-user self-support group with occasional input from Logitech. Most messages just get ignored.

The forum exists because it saves money on support. Many questions get answered without any response from Logitech.

As you have detected, most of the input is boilerplate. But to be fair to the support people, many, if not most, of the problems are repeats of things they have seen before, but that the user failed to find with the search system.

Much as your rant is entertaining, it is thin on useful information, such as your version of the operating system. (The latest iOS, just like the latest Windows, has screwed up some things.) Say a bit more about your problem and what you have done to solve it and someone who uses a Mac might have some advice.

MichaelKenward,

the reason i didnt give my details, actually two reasons, are 1-this thread was opened for a windows machine so i didnt want to change the focus not to be disrespectful to the original ask-er. 2-upon my research I've come to believe that this has little-none to do with the OS but more of an issue with unifying receivers not working properly with usb3.0 ports. While I understand your POV, i think if logitech CS doesnt have anything valuable to add then they should not respond. We all know where to contact them. As someone who deals with brand management, that kind of ingeniune and insincere response only hurts their CS image.

To answer your question I have mac osx 10.9 mavericks. and I'm having the issue with a m510 mouse that uses a unifying receiver. and it sure is very frustrating!

thanks.

Re: ultrabook unifying receiver connection problem

So you were just here for the rant. Fair enough.

I don't know if mavericks has caused issues in this area, but you will find that it has messed up some stuff is you'll see here:

Search - Logitech Forums

I assume that you have sniffed around the place.
